Samta, India
Samta () is a village and a gram panchayat in the Howrah district of West Bengal, India, on the banks of the Rupnarayan river. Samta is noted for being the home of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay (namely, Sarat Chandra Kuthi) for twelve years, starting from the year 1923. The terracotta temple of Madangopal jiu is located in the neighbouring village of Mellak. Samta is connected to the state capital, Kolkata, through the National Highway 6, that also connects it to the nearby towns of Bagnan and Kolaghat. Samta hosts few educational facilities including the Samta Sarat Chandra Girls High School, among others. Samta Sthal
Raj Ghat is a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi in Delhi, India. Originally it was the name of a historic ghat of Old Delhi (Shahjahanabad). Close to it, and east of Daryaganj was ''Raj Ghat Gate'' of the walled city, opening at ''Raj Ghat'' to the west bank of the Yamuna River. Later the memorial area was also called ''Raj Ghat''. It is a black marble platform that marks the spot of Mahatma Gandhi's cremation, ''Antyeshti'' (last rites) on 31 January 1948, a day after his assassination. It is left open to the sky while an eternal flame burns at one end. Located on Delhi's Ring Road, officially known as Mahatma Gandhi Road, a stone footpath flanked by lawns leads to the walled enclosure that houses the memorial. The materials used in the memorial, especially in the recesses, raise a few questions about the nature of Gandhian architecture in India. Samta Prasad (Hindi : पण्डित सामता प्रसाद; 20 July 1921 – 31 May 1994) was an Indian classical musician and tabla player from the Benares gharana. He played tabla in many Hindi films including, ''Meri Surat Teri Ankhen'' (1963) and ''Sholay'' (1975), and film music composers Rahul Dev Burman and Bappi Lahiri were his disciples. He was the son of Hari Sundarrr, also known as Bachaa Mishra, his grandfather was Jagannath Mishra, and his ancestors included Pratap Maharaj, also known as Gudai Maharaj. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1979, given by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy of Music, Dance & Drama and the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian honour given by Govt. of India in 1991. Samta Benyahia ( ar, صامته بن يحيى) born in Constantine, Algeria, in 1950, is an Algerian French artist, known for her Arab Berber Andalusian geometrical patterns and rosaceae, called ''fatima''. Benyahia studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Paris from 1974 to 1980, and subsequently taught at the École supérieure des Beaux-Arts :fr:École des beaux-arts d'Alger in Algiers from 1980 to 1988. She moved to France in 1988 and received her Master of Advanced Studies in plastic arts from the University of Paris VIII. She currently works and lives in Paris.
