Sammy Davis (ice Hockey)
Samantha "Sammy" Davis (born April 23, 1997) is an American ice hockey forward, currently playing with the PWHL Ottawa of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She was drafted 1st overall in the 2020 NWHL Draft by the Boston Pride following a two-year captaincy of the Boston University Terriers women's ice hockey. Playing career While a high school athlete for Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts, Davis was awarded the John Carlton Memorial Trophy, given out annually by the Boston Bruins of the NHL. Davis was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie team, scoring 26 points in 39 games in the 2015–16 season. She would put up 23 points in 35 games the next year, before missing the entire 2017–18 season after having bilateral hip surgery. Beanpot (ice Hockey)
The Beanpot is an annual ice hockey tournament among the four major US college hockey schools of the Boston, Massachusetts area, usually held during the first two Mondays in February at TD Garden. The tournament has been held annually since the 1952–53 season and has been held at its current location since 1996. The tournament gives the winner bragging rights over its cross-town rivals, and the quest for this highly sought-after trophy is contested in front of sell-out crowds from all four schools. Christopher Wagner (born May 27, 1991) is an American professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL). Travis Roy
Travis Matthew Roy (April 17, 1975 – October 29, 2020) was an American college ice hockey player, author and philanthropist. In 1995, he was injured in his first shift as a college hockey player for Boston University and was paralyzed from the neck down. He later created the Travis Roy Foundation, which gives grants to enhance the life of people with spinal cord injuries and for research. His autobiography, ''Eleven Seconds'', was published in 1998. Childhood Travis Roy was born on April 17, 1975, in Yarmouth, Maine, the son of Lee and Brenda Roy. Roy grew up playing ice hockey and dreamed of playing for a Division I college hockey team. 2020–21 NWHL Season
The 2020–21 NWHL season was the sixth season of the National Women's Hockey League in North America. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the season was held in a bubble in Lake Placid, New York, from January to February 2021, with all five teams returning from the previous season, along with the Toronto Six expansion team as the first Canada-based team to play in the league. The Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) is a nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization dedicated to advocating for the promotion of professional women's ice hockey.
