PWHPA
The Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) is a nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization dedicated to advocating for the promotion of professional women's ice hockey. It was founded in May 2019 following the dissolution of the Canadian Women's Hockey League, which only paid stipends, and player's dissatisfaction in the operations of the National Women's Hockey League. Their goal is to create a sustainable professional league for women's ice hockey in North America. History Historically, women's ice hockey leagues have been strictly amateur, providing no pay or other incentives. Participation grew and women's competitions were eventually added by the International Ice Hockey Federation in 1990 and the Olympics in 1998. Annie Pankowski
Annie Pankowski (born November 4, 1994) is an American women's ice hockey player with the PWHPA and the United States women's national ice hockey team. She was the first California born and trained player to make the United States women's national under-18 ice hockey team. Playing career Across 154 NCAA games, Pankowski put up 206 points. She took leave for the 2017-18 season to train with the American Olympic team. She was a Patty Kazmaier Award finalist three years in a row from 2016 to 2019. She was drafted 1st overall by the Metropolitan Riveters in the 2018 NWHL Draft, but has yet to make an appearance for the club. In May 2019, she joined the PWHPA, after the collapse of the CWHL. Jordan Juron
Jordan Juron (born June 5, 1994) is an American ice hockey forward. She most recently played in the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL; renamed PHF in 2021) with the Buffalo Beauts during the 2020–21 season. Playing career As a youth player, Juron played with the Troy Albany Youth Hockey boys teams, before switching to the girls' team at Middlesex School, a private secondary school in Concord, Massachusetts. Across four years with the Boston University Terriers women's ice hockey program, Juron recorded 15 goals and 25 assists for 40 points in 141 games and won the Hockey East conference three times. After graduating, Juron took a year away from ice hockey before signing her first professional contract with the Buffalo Beauts in the NWHL. Kali Flanagan
Kali Dora Flanagan (born September 19, 1995) is an American ice hockey player for the American national team and the Boston Pride of the PHF. She also serves as an assistant coach for the Northern Cyclones, the first female coach in USPHL history. Career Flanagan was originally a figure skater before switching to hockey. In high school, she served as captain for the girls hockey team at the National Sports Academy (Lake Placid, New York). Across 157 games in the NCAA, she put up 72 points. With Boston College, she won Hockey East championships in 2016 and 2017, as well as Beanpot championships in 2016 and 2017. She took a leave for the 2017-18 season so she could train for the US Olympic team. Dani Cameranesi
Danielle Cameranesi (born June 3, 1995) is an American women's ice hockey forward, currently playing for the Minnesota section of the PWHPA. She made her debut for the US national women's team at the 2014 4 Nations Cup in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Playing career During the 2010–11 season, she registered 79 points (35 goals, 44 assists) while serving as team captain with The Blake School. Of note, the team was also conference champions. 2019–20 NWHL Season
The 2019–20 NWHL season was the fifth season of the National Women's Hockey League. All five teams from the previous season returned: the Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale, Metropolitan Riveters, and the Minnesota Whitecaps. The NWHL completed the semifinal round of the 2020 Isobel Cup playoffs, but had to postpone the championship game between Boston and Minnesota originally scheduled for March 13, 2020, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On May 15, the final was cancelled and the Isobel Cup was not awarded. Jayna Hefford
Jayna Hefford (born May 14, 1977) is a Canadian retired ice hockey player and current chairperson of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association. During her career, she won multiple medals at the Winter Olympics and IIHF World Women's Championships as well as titles in the National Women's Hockey League (1999–2007), National Women's Hockey League and Canadian Women's Hockey League. She helped Canada women's national ice hockey team, Canada win four-straight Olympic gold medals from 2002 to 2014 and famously scored the gold medal-winning goal at the 2002 Winter Olympics. At the club level across three leagues, she scored 439 goals in 418 competitive games including a CWHL record 44 goals in 2008–09. Kendall Coyne Schofield
Kendall Coyne Schofield (born May 25, 1992) is an Americans, American professional ice hockey player who is currently a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team. With the national team, she has won six gold medals at the IIHF World Women's Championships and the gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics. In 2016, she was the winner of the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. In January 2017, Coyne was recognized as the recipient of the NCAA Today's Top 10 Award. 2019–20 ECHL Season
The 2019–20 ECHL season was the 32nd season of the ECHL. The regular season began in October 2019 to and was set to conclude in April 2020 with the Kelly Cup playoffs to follow. Twenty-six teams in 19 states and two Canadian provinces were each scheduled for 72 games. On March 12, 2020, the league announced that the season has been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 14, the league cancelled the remainder of the season. The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), formerly the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), is a women's professional ice hockey league located in the United States and Canada. Gisele Marie "Gigi" Marvin (born March 7, 1987) is an American ice hockey player for the Boston Pride of the National Women's Hockey League. As a member of the United States national women's ice hockey team, Marvin won a silver medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and the 2014 Winter Olympics, and a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Boston Pride
The Boston Pride are a professional women's ice hockey team based in Boston, Massachusetts. They are one of the four charter franchises of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), formerly the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL; 2015–2021). 2020 NHL All-Star Game
The 2020 National Hockey League All-Star Game was held on January 25, 2020, at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri, the home of the St. Louis Blues. The city previously hosted the NHL All-Star Game in 1970 and 1988 at the former St. Louis Arena. For the fifth year, the All-Star Game used a 3-on-3 format, with teams representing each of the league's four divisions competing in a single-elimination tournament.
