Sameera Fazili is an American attorney and public official who served as a Deputy Director of the National Economic Council (United States), National Economic Council in the Biden Administration. A noted community development financial institution, community development finance expert, Fazili previously served as Director of Engagement for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Early life Born in Williamsville, New York, Fazili is a native of Buffalo, New York, Buffalo. Fazili is the daughter of Dr. Mohammad Yusuf Fazili and Dr. Rafiqa Fazili, who immigrated to the United States from Kashmir Valley, Kashmir, India. Revocation Of The Special Status Of Jammu And Kashmir
On 5 August 2019, the Parliament of India voted in favour of a resolution tabled by Home Minister Amit Shah to revoke the temporary special status, or autonomy, granted under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution to Jammu and Kashmir—a region administered by India as a state which consists of the larger part of Kashmir which has been the subject of dispute among India, Pakistan, and China since 1947. Among the Indian government actions accompanying the revocation was the cutting off of communication lines in the Kashmir Valley restored after 5 months.
