''Same !@#$ Different Day'' is a compilation album by Lyrics Born. It was released on Quannum Projects in 2005. It peaked at number 27 on the ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' Heatseekers Albums chart, as well as number 28 on the Independent Albums chart. Release As well as containing new tracks, ''Same !@#$ Different Day'' contains new lyrics over remixed beats from Lyrics Born's 2003 debut album, ''Later That Day''. Some versions of the album includes a bonus DVD, featuring music videos, a documentary, and footage from the 2004 tour. Critical reception Dave Dierksen of ''PopMatters'' gave the album 7 stars out of 10, saying: "This is the sound of soul, and it's what's been missing for far too long in hip-hop." Tsutomu William "Tom" Shimura (born September 2, 1972), better known by his stage name Lyrics Born (formerly Asia Born), is a Japanese-American rapper, singer, and producer. He is one half of the duo Latyrx with Lateef the Truthspeaker. Early life and education Shimura was born in Tokyo to a Japanese father and an Italian mother. His family moved to the USA and he was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and later Berkeley, California. He attended Henry B. Plant High School in Tampa, Florida. Career Shimura changed his stage name from Asia Born to Lyrics Born in 1995, citing the desire to ensure that he won fans based on his merits as a rapper rather than his ethnicity. Jonathan Owens (born December 19, 1973), known by his stage name Casual, is an American rapper, producer, and one of the founding members of the alternative hip hop collective Hieroglyphics. Lateef Kenneth Daumont, better known by his stage name Lateef the Truthspeaker, or mononymously as Lateef, is an American hip hop artist from Oakland, California.
