Samantha Yeo
Samantha Louisa Ginn Yeo (born 24 January 1997) is a Singaporean breaststroke and medley swimmer. Competing in her first of three Southeast Asian Games at just 12 years of age, Yeo has represented her country at the long course and short course World Championships, the FINA World Cup, Asian Games, Asian Swimming Championships, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympic Games and Asian Youth Games. In June 2014, Yeo was recruited to the Michigan Wolverines on a partial, performance-based, sports scholarship. Career Schools competition Yeo took part in the 2008 Pacific School Games in Canberra, Australia where she won five medals, including gold in the 50-metre backstroke and in the 4 × 50-metre freestyle relay. In the 51st National Schools Swimming Championships, 2010, Yeo lowered the under-14's 100-metre breaststroke national record a further three times. Michigan Wolverines
The Michigan Wolverines comprise 29 varsity sports teams at the University of Michigan. These teams compete in the NCAA's Division I and in the Big Ten Conference in all sports except women's water polo, which competes in the NCAA inter-divisional Collegiate Water Polo Association. Youth Olympic Games
The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is an international multi-sport event for athletes between 15 and 18 years old, organized by the International Olympic Committee. The games are held every four years in staggered summer and winter events consistent with the current Olympic Games format, though in reverse order with Olympic Winter Games held in leap years instead of Summer Olympic Games. FINA Swimming World Cup
The FINA Swimming World Cup is an international series of short course () swimming meets organized by FINA, the International Federation for swimming. Launched in 1988, the FINA Swimming World Cup gathers world-class swimmers in a series of two-day meets organised between August and November each year. Across nine locations, the circuit is structured in clusters (Middle East, Europe and Asia) and distributes a total of prize money reaching US$2.5 million. Currently, the overall first, second, and third-place winners are awarded prize money. The men's and women's series winners take home $150,000 each, runners-up $100,000, and third-place finishers $50,000, following a prize-money increase announced by FINA in September 2017. FINA World Swimming Championships (25 M)
The FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) or "Short Course Worlds" as they are sometimes known, is an international swimming competition. It is swum in a short course (25m) pool, and has been held in the years when FINA has not held its long course World Aquatics Championships (currently this means in even years). Unlike the FINA World Aquatics Championships, this championship is swimming-only (the World Championships feature all 5 Aquatics disciplines), and is contested in a short course, 25-meter pool (rather than a long course, 50-meter pool). Swimming At The World Aquatics Championships
The aquatics discipline of swimming has been the core component of every edition of the FINA World Aquatics Championships since its introduction in 1973. In 1991, open water swimming events were introduced to the program of the World Championships. Breaststroke
Breaststroke is a swimming style in which the swimmer is on their chest and the torso does not rotate. It is the most popular recreational style due to the swimmer's head being out of the water a large portion of the time, and that it can be swum comfortably at slow speeds. In most swimming classes, beginners learn either the breaststroke or the freestyle (front crawl) first. However, at the competitive level, swimming breaststroke at speed requires endurance and strength comparable to other strokes.
