Samantha Huge
Samantha K. Huge is the former director of athletics for the College of William & Mary. She previously served as an associate athletic director at Texas A&M University from 2014 to 2017, as a deputy athletic director at the University of Delaware from 2009 to 2014, as an associate athletic director at Georgetown University from 2006 to 2009, and as an assistant athletic director at Wake Forest University from 2002 to 2006. Huge attended college at Gordon College, where she played on the school's women's basketball team. Huge was named athletic director at the College of William & Mary on March 14, 2017. Huge fired Men's Basketball Coach Tony Shaver in March of 2019 after a 14-17 season, although William & Mary will continue paying Shaver's contract through June 2024. An athletic director (commonly "athletics director" or "AD") is an administrator at many American clubs or institutions, such as colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, who oversees the work of coaches and related staff involved in athletic programs. Although technically in charge of all of the coaches, they are often far less well-compensated and also less famous, with few having their own television and radio programs as many coaches now do. Dane Fischer (born September 21, 1979) is an American basketball coach who is currently the head coach of the William & Mary Tribe men's basketball team. Playing career Fischer played college basketball at Ithaca College, where he graduated in the top 10 in career steals and assists while helping guide the Bombers to an NCAA Tournament appearance. Coaching career Upon graduation, Fischer entered the coaching ranks, taking an assistant coaching position at Williams College under Dave Paulsen, where the Ephs reached the national championship game of the 2004 NCAA Division III Tournament. The William & Mary Tribe men's basketball team represents the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in NCAA Division I competition. Tony Shaver
Tony Shaver (born January 28, 1954) is an American college basketball coach. From the 2003–04 through 2018–19 seasons, he was the head men's basketball coach at the College of William & Mary. He arrived at William & Mary after a 17-year tenure as the head coach at Hampden-Sydney College. He leaves as the winningest coach in William & Mary history and finished with an overall record of 226 wins and 268 losses. Shaver played college basketball under Dean Smith at North Carolina from 1972 until 1976, making the team as a walk-on and playing with such Tar Heel greats as Mitch Kupchak, Tom LaGarde, Phil Ford and Walter Davis on a team that twice went to the NCAA tournament.
