Samuel Charles Williams (born July 22, 1952), also known as Samaji Adi Akili, is a former American football defensive back who played three seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the San Diego Chargers and Houston Oilers. He was drafted by the Chargers in the twelfth round of the 1974 NFL Draft. Williams enrolled at New Mexico Highlands University before transferring to the University of California, Berkeley. Sam Williams (baseball)
Samuel Clarence Williams (October 13, 1922 – August 8, 2007) was an American Negro league pitcher between 1947 and 1952. A native of Ketona, Alabama, Williams served in the United States Army during World War II. He made his Negro leagues debut in 1947 for the Birmingham Black Barons. Williams got the start in Game 6 of the 1948 Negro American League championship series for Birmingham, and went 8.1 innings in a Birmingham loss. He played with the Black Barons through 1950, played in Mexico in 1951, and returned to the Barons in 1952, but finished the season with the Brandon Greys of the Mandak League. Sammie 'Big Sam' Williams is a trombonist and band leader from New Orleans, Louisiana. He has been a member of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and leads Big Sam's Funky Nation. Career In his youth, he studied with saxophonist Kidd Jordan and at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. In his teens, Williams was a founding member of the Stooges Brass Band and joined the Dirty Dozen, allowing him to play with Karl Denson, Dave Matthews, Widespread Panic, and James Brown. After one year with the Dirty Dozen, he began a side project broadening his musical ambitions. In 2006, he played with Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint on their album '' The River in Reverse'' and tour. Mark Stephen Gardener (born 6 December 1969, in Oxford, England) is an English rock musician, and a singer and guitarist with the shoegazing band Ride. Ride Gardener formed Ride with Andy Bell (guitar), whom he met at Cheney School in Oxford, and Laurence Colbert (drummer) and Steve Queralt (bass guitarist), whom he met doing Foundation Studies in Art and Design at Banbury in 1988. While still at Banbury the band produced a tape demo including the tracks "Chelsea Girl" and "Drive Blind". In February 1989 "Ride" were asked to stand in for a cancelled student union gig at Oxford Polytechnic that brought them to the attention of Alan McGee. Sam Williams (born 9 June 1987) is an English footballer. Career Naturally a defensive midfielder before the start of the 2005–06 season, Williams took straight into the role of an attacker, after injuries to strikers. Although never having started a first team game for Aston Villa, Williams was a regular scorer for the clubs reserves. Williams was sent on loan multiple times to gain first team experience, his first loan spell being at Wrexham where he scored on his debut against Wycombe Wanderers. In November 2008, Williams spent a month on loan at League One side Colchester United, again scoring on his debut in a 1–0 victory over AFC Bournemouth. In January 2009 he joined Walsall on another single month loan deal.
