Sam McDaniel (basketball)
Samuel McDaniel (born 9 December 1995) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Brisbane Bullets of the National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for Southeastern Community College and Louisiana–Monroe. Early life Born in Hobart, Tasmania, McDaniel was raised by his mother in Adelaide, South Australia, and attended Southern Vales Christian College in the suburb of Morphett Vale. He played soccer while growing up but switched to basketball after a bad experience with a junior soccer coach at age 14. McDaniel played in the Central ABL for the Southern Tigers between 2012 and 2014. College career Between 2014 and 2016, McDaniel played college basketball for Southeastern Community College. He averaged 13 points and 8.2 rebounds during his sophomore year. For his junior season, McDaniel transferred to Louisiana–Monroe. 2020–21 NBL Season
The 2020–21 NBL season was the 43rd season of the National Basketball League since its establishment in 1979. A total of nine teams contested in the 2020–21 season. The regular season was played between January and June 2021, followed by a post-season in June 2021. Australian broadcast rights to the season were held by SBS Viceland in the second year of a two-year deal. All games were available live and free on streaming platforms such as SBS On Demand. ESPN also broadcast select games, including all games after 7.30pm AEDT. In New Zealand, Sky Sport were the official league broadcaster. 2019 NBL1 Season
The 2019 NBL1 season was the first season of NBL1 after the demise of the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL). The season begun on 29 March 2019 with three matches being placed and it concluded on 17 August 2019 with the grand final of both the men's and women's seasons. Background On 15 February, the name of NBL1 was decided with Basketball Victoria and the NBL deciding on the name which would formerly replace the SEABL as the premier winter league. This was mainly due to the fact that Basketball Australia decided to pull the plug on the SEABL. Forcing the Victorian teams plus the three Tassie teams into the creation of the new league. The South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) was an Australian semi-professional basketball league. The league comprised both a men's and women's competition and was run by the country's governing body, Basketball Australia. The league was one and the same with the Australian Basketball Association (ABA) from its inception in 1981 until 1993. With the inclusion of a North conference from Queensland in 1994, the history of the SEABL and ABA was split from one another for the first time. 2022 FIBA Asia Cup
The 2022 FIBA Asia Cup (formerly known as the FIBA Asia Championship) will be the 30th continental basketball championship in Asia. The tournament is organised by FIBA Asia. Originally intended to be the 2021 edition, the tournament was initially scheduled to take place between 3 and 15 August 2021, but it was postponed due to 17 to 29 August 2021 to avoid scheduling conflict with the 2020 Summer Olympics which was postponed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
