Sam M. Fleming (1908–2000) was an American banker, chief executive and Philanthropy, philanthropist. As president and Chairperson, chairman of the Third National Bank of Nashville from 1950 to 1973, he financed many publicly traded corporations as well the country music industry. Newton Cannon
Newton Cannon (May 22, 1781 – September 16, 1841) was an American politician who served as the eighth Governor of Tennessee from 1835 to 1839. He also served several terms in the United States House of Representatives, from 1814 to 1817, and from 1819 to 1823. Cannon was a long-time foe of Andrew Jackson, and spent much of his political career opposing Jacksonite policies. Cannon was succeeded as Governor of Tennessee by James K. Polk in 1839, who later became President of the United States. Early life Born in Guilford County, North Carolina, Cannon was the son of Minos Cannon, who served as a soldier in the Continental Army.
