Sam Cooper Boulevard
Sam Cooper Boulevard is an urban highway in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. The more recent western segment of the road follows a parkway design, while the older eastern portion, which was proposed and constructed as a segment of Interstate 40 (I-40), is built as a freeway, without at-grade intersections and traffic lights. The western terminus of Sam Cooper Boulevard is at East Parkway North. At the western termination point of the road there is a short concurrency of East Parkway North with U.S. Route 64 (US 64), US 70, and US 79. From its western end, Sam Cooper Boulevard continues east for to reach its eastern terminus at the I-40/ I-240 interchange. The road was originally planned in the 1950s. Tennessee State Route 277
State Route 277 (SR 277), also known as Airways Boulevard and East Parkway, is a major north-south urban state highway in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. Route description SR 277 begins as a signed secondary highway at an intersection with Lamar Avenue (US 78/ SR 4) and Airways Boulevard in the Orange Mound community and continues north as Airways. It intersects the Memphis Parkway System and turns into East Parkway. Continuing north it crosses under Union Avenue (US 70/ 79/ 64/ SR 23) and picks up the former three routes, where it becomes an unsigned primary highway. Exit Number
An exit number is a number assigned to a road junction, usually an exit from a freeway. It is usually marked on the same sign as the destinations of the exit. In some countries, such as the United States, it is also marked on a sign in the gore. Exit numbers typically reset at political borders such as state lines. Some non-freeways use exit numbers. Typically these are rural roads built to expressway standards, and either only the actual exits are numbered, or the at-grade intersections are also numbered. An extreme case of this is in New York City, where the Grand Concourse and Linden Boulevard were given sequential numbers, one per intersection (both boulevards no longer have exit numbers as of 2011). A business route (or business loop, business spur, or city route) in the United States is a short special route connected to a ''parent'' numbered highway at its beginning, then routed through the central business district of a nearby city or town, and finally reconnecting with the same ''parent'' numbered highway again at its end. Naming Business routes always have the same number as the routes they parallel.
