Sam Anno
Sam Scott Anno (born January 26, 1965) is a former American football linebacker, and currently a defensive assistant coach for the San Diego Strike Force of the Indoor Football League. High school career Anno prepped at Saint Monica Catholic High School and then at Santa Monica High School in Southern California where he was recruited to play college football at USC. During his tenure at Santa Monica High, actors Charlie Sheen and Dean Cain, also alumni of Santa Monica High School, were teammates and good friends of Sam Anno. He was also teammates in high school with fellow Santa Monica High standout USC linebacker Keith Davis and Arizona State standout safety Darren Willis and free safety Junior Thurman who eventually (along with Anno) transferred to USC after playing football at West Los Angeles College. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. Indoor Football League
The Indoor Football League (IFL) is a professional indoor American football league created in 2008 out of the merger between the Intense Football League and United Indoor Football. It has one of the largest number of currently active teams among indoor football leagues. The league has operated continuously under the same name and corporate structure longer than any other current indoor football league. With the closure of the Arena Football League in 2019, the IFL is the oldest active professional indoor football league in North America. As of 2022 season, the league consists of 14 teams in two conferences with each team playing 16 games over 19 weeks. The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) is the governing body for high school sports in the U.S. state of California. CIF membership includes both public and private high schools. West Los Angeles College
West Los Angeles College (West L.A. College or WLAC) is a public community college in Ladera Heights, Los Angeles County, California. It is part of the California Community Colleges System and the Los Angeles Community College District. It is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges. Junior Thurman
Ulyses Thurman Jr. (born September 8, 1964) is a former American football, American and Canadian football defensive back in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). He played for the New Orleans Saints of the NFL and the Calgary Stampeders and Birmingham Barracudas of the CFL. Thurman played college football at USC Trojans football, Southern California (USC). Thurman was selected as one of 75 greatest players in Calgary Stampeder franchise history(CFL) on August 31, 2021. He was a Western All-Star and Canadian All-Pro in both 1991 and 1992. He also helped the Stampeders win the Grey Cup Championship in 1992. Thurman was forced to retire after the 1995 season because of a knee injury. His brother, Dennis Thurman, played in the NFL and has served as the defensive coordinator for the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. Darren Willis (born December 19, 1964) is a former Arizona State University football player who played professional American football for the Tampa Bay Storm. High school years He is an alumnus of Santa Monica High where he starred as a player on the 1982 CIF football champions and was teammates with Sam Anno and USC standout Keith Davis on the team that beat Long Beach Poly 21-8. He was also teammates in high school with fellow Santa Monica defensive back Junior Thurman who eventually along with Sam Anno transferred to USC after playing football at West LA College. Safety (American Football Position)
Safety is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field.
