Salvo Pogliese
Salvatore Domenico Antonio Pogliese (born 3 March 1972) is an Italian politician, Mayor of Catania from 2018 to 2022. Biography Pogliese graduated in Economy at the University of Catania and has been a chartered accountant. He entered in politics when he was very young, beginning his political career in the ''Fronte della Gioventù'' (''Youth Front''), the youth organization of the Italian Social Movement, of which Pogliese has been provincial secretary in Catania. With the end of the MSI and the birth of National Alliance, Pogliese became the regional secretary of Youth Action, the youth organization of Gianfranco Fini's party in Sicily. In 1997 he was elected to the City Council of Catania and in 2003 he was elected to the Provincial Council, working as assessor in the junta led by Raffaele Lombardo. 2006 Sicilian Regional Election
The 2006 Sicilian regional election for the renewal of the Sicilian Regional Assembly and the Presidency of Sicily was held on 28 May 2006. The election was competed by three competitors: Salvatore Cuffaro, incumbent President and House of Freedoms candidate; Rita Borsellino, candidate of The Union; and Nello Musumeci, MEP elected for the National Alliance and now leader of the autonomist movement Sicilian Alliance. In the end, Cuffaro won the election, despite a heavy loss of support compared with five years before, when he was elected with 59.1% of votes. Sebastiano "Nello" Musumeci (born 21 January 1955) is a right-wing Italian politician. Musumeci is serving as Minister for Civil Protection and Sea Policies since 22 October 2022 in the government of Giorgia Meloni. He previously served as President of Sicily from 18 November 2017 until 13 October 2022. The centre-right coalition ( it, coalizione di centro-destra) is an alliance of political parties in Italy, active—under several forms and names—since 1994, when Silvio Berlusconi entered politics and formed his Forza Italia party. Despite its name, the alliance mostly falls on the right-wing of the political spectrum.
