Salvatore Mazzaferro
Salvatore Mazzaferro (born October 11, 2001) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a defender for MLS Next Pro club Austin FC II. Early life Born in Toronto, Canada, Mazzaferro is of Italian descent through his grandparents. Mazzaferro began playing youth soccer with Bolton SC. After his family moved to London, Ontario, he began playing with FC London, later moving on to play with Brampton SC and Atletico Toronto. He later joined the Toronto FC Academy. College career In 2019, he began attending the University of South Florida, where he played for the men's soccer team. On August 29, 2019, he made his collegiate debut in a match against the Maryland Terrapins. At the end of his freshman season, he was named to the American Athletic Conference (AAC) All-Rookie Team and the All-Academic Team. 2023 Austin FC II Season
The 2023 Austin FC II season was the club's first season in MLS Next Pro, the third tier of soccer in the United States. They played in the league's Western Conference. The club finished the regular season 4th in the Western Conference and 8th overall in the regular season, qualifying for the MLSNP play-offs. In the four play-off games, Austin FC II only allowed one goal on their way to the MLS Next Pro Cup. The 2018 Men's League1 Ontario season was the fifth season of play for League1 Ontario, a Division 3 men's soccer league in the Canadian soccer pyramid and the highest level of soccer based in the Canadian province of Ontario. 2023 MLS SuperDraft
The 2023 MLS SuperDraft was the 24th edition of the SuperDraft conducted by Major League Soccer. It was held on December 21, 2022, becoming the first SuperDraft to be held in December, but will retain the 2023 branding. The draft was conducted via conference call and streamed online. Previously, the SuperDraft had been held in conjunction with the annual January United Soccer Coaches convention. Since 2021, the SuperDraft has consisted of three rounds. Teams that received fourth-round picks for this draft via past trades received compensatory picks instead.
