Saluzzo Roosters
The Saluzzo Roosters, formerly known as the North West Roosters, are a rugby league club based in Saluzzo, Piedmont, Italy. Founded in 2010 as a rugby union club, the Roosters changed to playing rugby league in 2015. They currently compete in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA) division of the French National Division 2. As of 2019 they have since switched back to Rugby Union. 2017/18 season The Roosters became the first Italian rugby league club to play in a foreign competition when they joined the PACA division of the National Division 2, France's fourth-tier rugby league competition, for the 2016/17 season. Mirco Bergamasco
Mirco Bergamasco (born 23 February 1983) is an Italian rugby union and rugby league footballer. Bergamasco has played both rugby league and rugby union, and is a dual-code rugby international, having played for both the Italy national rugby union team and the Italy national rugby league team. He primarily plays at centre or wing. He played in the 2003, 2007 and 2011 Rugby World Cups as well as the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. RC Carpentras XIII are a semi-professional rugby league club based in the city of Carpentras, Vaucluse in the south of France. Formed in 1938, they play in the Elite Two Championship in France, which is the 2nd tier. Their home ground is the Stade de la Roseraire. History The club was founded in 1938 under their original name Racing Club de Carpentras XIII du Comtat. The club competed in the amateur rugby league but at the end of just their second season war broke out and brought an end to French sport. Worse was to come when the Vichy Government sanctioned sport to restart but banned rugby league. The club had to change their name to Union Sportive Carpentrassienne and were forced to play rugby union. Saint-Martin XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Saint-Martin-de-Crau, in Bouches-du-Rhône in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The club currently play in the French National Division 1 which is the 3rd tier. Founded in 1974. History Saint-Martin de Crau as they were originally known were founded in 1974 by Jean Chaput and began life in the local regional league. In season 79/80 they reached the Federal Division semi-finals and also during the 1980s they hosted the touring Moscow Spartak youth team, changed their name to Saint-Martin XIII and said farewell to founder and president ''Jean Chaput'' who stepped down. Gioele Celerino (born 4 October 1993) is an Italian professional rugby league footballer who plays for the Saint-Gaudens Bears in the Elite One Championship and Italy at international level. Primarily playing as a , he was a member of Italy's 2013 and 2017 World Cup squads. Playing career At the time of the 2013 World Cup, Celerino was playing for the North West Roosters. National Division 2 is the fourth tier of rugby league in France, below the National Division 1. The season runs from September to April. The Division is split into 5 regional leagues, Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrenees, Aquitaine, Ile de France and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA).
