Zimri (prince)
Zimri ( Hebrew: זִמְרִי, ''Zīmrī''; lit. “praiseworthy”) son of Salu was the prince or leader of a family within the Tribe of Simeon during the time of the Israelites’ Exodus in the wilderness at the time when they were approaching the Promised Land. The Book of Numbers in the Hebrew Bible describes how, at Abila or Shittim, he took part in the Heresy of Peor, taking as a paramour a Midianite woman, Cozbi. For this sin, Phinehas, grandson of Aaron, killed them both by impaling them on a spear as they had sex (). The incident was then taken by the Israelites as a pretext for the War against the Midianites in Numbers 31. Interpretations Judaism According to a midrash (Tanhuma Pinha2.1 Sanhedrin 82b), Zimri was the same person as Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai. Phinehas
According to the Hebrew Bible, Phinehas or Phineas (; , ''Phinees'', ) was a priest during the Israelites’ Exodus journey. The grandson of Aaron and son of Eleazar, the High Priests (), he distinguished himself as a youth at Shittim with his zeal against the heresy of Peor. Displeased with the immorality with which the Moabites and Midianites had successfully tempted the Israelites () to inter-marry and to worship Baal-peor, Phinehas personally executed an Israelite man and a Midianite woman while they were together in the man's tent, running a javelin or spear through the man and the belly of the woman, bringing to an end the plague sent by God to punish the Israelites for sexually intermingling with the Midianites. Phinehas is commended by God in Numbers 25:10-13, as well as King David in for having stopped Israel's fall into idolatrous practices brought in by Midianite women, as well as for stopping the desecration of God's sanctuary. Anlo Afiadenyigba
Anlo Afiadenyigba is a town in the Volta Region of Ghana. The town is located on the eastern part of the Keta Lagoon. History The people of Afiadenyigba are descendants of the Anlo Ewe groups who settled in Anloga. The Anlo ancestors migrated from Notsie in central Togo in the mid –seventeenth century (''Between the sea and the lagoon''). The Anlo ancestors established several small settlements on the southern and northern shores of the Keta Lagoon. Afiadenyigba is on the northern part. The conflicts between the Anlo and Keta led to war in 1792 and Keta was razed to the ground. The people of Keta migrated east and founded the Somey State with Agbozume as its traditional capital, on some on land granted to them by Klikor. Ṣalu Monastery
Shalu Monastery () is small monastery south of Shigatse in Tibet. Founded in 1040 by Chetsun Sherab Jungnay, for centuries it was renowned as a centre of scholarly learning and psychic training and its mural paintings were considered to be the most ancient and beautiful in Tibet. Shalu was the first of the major monasteries to be built by noble families of the Tsangpa during Tibet's great revival of Buddhism, and was an important center of the Sakya tradition.
