Dimitris Salpingidis
Dimitris Salpingidis ( el, Δημήτρης Σαλπιγγίδης ; born 18 August 1981) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a winger or a striker. He was known to be "a very quick and useful tool on the counter attack." Club career PAOK Born in Zagliveri, Salpingidis started out as a Greco-Roman wrestler before discovering his calling in football. Salpingidis began his football career through the youth ranks of PAOK FC. Before football Salpingidis was participating in wrestling in which he was very good at, with a dream of competing in the Olympics. He didn't make it as a wrestler but his dream came true as footballer in 2004. On 30 September 1999 he marked his official debut against FC Lokomotivi Tbilisi with a goal in a 2–0 win. Acknowledging his potential and in order to gain much needed experience, the team soon loaned him for two successive seasons to Kavala FC where he finished top scorer of the Second Division. Salpi Haroutinian Ghazarian ( hy, Սալբի Ղազարյան) (born Aleppo, Syria), is the current director of the University of Southern California's Institute of Armenian Studies. Biography Salpi Ghazarian joined the USC Institute of Armenian Studies in 2014 to lead an institute dedicated to advancing contemporary Armenian studies in a broad, multidisciplinary, global framework. Salapia
Salapia (also called Salpe and Salpi) is an ancient settlement and bishopric in Daunia, Italy near Cerignola and Manfredonia. The settlement was probably built for and named after the salt marsh - the ancient Lake Salpi is now Saline di Margherita di Savoia. Salapia is mentioned by Pliny the Elder, Ptolemy and probably the "Elpia" of Strabo, but according to Smith (1857) in relation to the later town, and not an earlier original settlement.
