Sallyanne Short
Sallyanne Short (born 6 March 1968) is a Welsh former sprinter who competed in the 100 metres and 200 metres. She represented Great Britain in the 4 x 100 metres relay at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. Career Short was born in Newport, Wales and began her international career in 1986. She represented Great Britain at the World Junior Championships in Athens and Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, where she won a bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m relay. In 1988, she earned relay selection for the Seoul Olympics. The British quartet of Short, Bev Kinch, Simmone Jacobs and Paula Dunn, reached the semi-finals, running 43.50 to miss the final by just six hundredths of a second. At her second Commonwealth Games in Auckland, January 1990, she reached the finals of both the 100 metres and 200 metres, finishing fifth in the 100 m in 11.41 and sixth in the 200 m in 23.35. Paula Dunn
Paula Dunn , (formerly Thomas, born 3 December 1964) is an English former sprinter who competed in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 4 x 100 metres relay. She represented Great Britain in all three events at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. She is a five-time Commonwealth Games medallist, including winning silver (1986) and bronze (1994) in the 100 metres. During the 1990s, she competed as Paula Thomas (her then married name). Her personal bests of 11.15 secs in the 100 metres and 22.69 secs in the 200 metres, were the fastest times run by a British female sprinter during the 1990s. Career Born Paula Dunn in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, she was a member of the Trafford Athletics Club (formerly Stretford). At the 1986 Commonwealth Games, the athletics events were held at the Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland. A total of 41 events were contested, of which 23 by male and 18 by female athletes. Hannah Brier
Hannah Brier (born 3 February 1998) is a British sprinter who won the 200 metres event at the 2022 British Indoor Athletics Championships. She competed at the 2014 and 2022 Commonwealth Games. Career Brier trains at Swansea Harriers Athletics Club, and has previously competed for Loughborough. As a youngster, Brier held seven Welsh age groups records, including in the long jump event. In May 2014, Brier, Mica Moore, Hannah Thomas, and Rachel Johncock broke the Welsh 4 × 100 metres relay national record at the Loughborough International event. Melinda Gainsford
Melinda Gainsford-Taylor (born 1 October 1971 in Narromine, New South Wales) is a retired Australian athlete, who specialised in sprint events. In 1995 Gainsford-Taylor won the World Indoor championship over 200 m. During her career she also won international medals at the World Championships and Commonwealth Games. She is the cousin of Australian Olympic backstroke swimmer Josh Watson who won silver in the Men's 4 × 100-metre medley relay at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
