Ari Salin
Ari Juhani Salin (born 20 January 1947) is a Finnish former hurdler and sprinter. Salin set Finnish records in both the 110 metres hurdles and the 400 metres hurdles and competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics. Career Salin won his first title at the national championships in 1968, when he won the 110 m hurdles in 14.7. The same year he broke the Finnish record for the first time, running 14.2 and improving the previous record by one-tenth of a second. He repeated as national champion in 1969 and represented Finland in the 1969 European Athletics Championships in Athens, but was eliminated in the first round. Originally the 110 m hurdles were his main event, and he only dabbled in the 400 m hurdles; in 1970, however, he seriously took up the longer event as well. Bernhard Salin
Carl Bernhard Salin (14January 1861, Örebro20October 1931, Stockholm), was a Swedish archaeologist, cultural historian and museum curator. Bernhard Salin took the matriculation examination at the Public Grammar School in Nyköping 28May 1880 and then became a student at Uppsala University, where he became in 1885 Bachelor in Scandinavian languages, the aesthetics of art and literature, Latin, history, political science and astronomy. He became in 1888 Licentiate of Philosophy in Art History and PhD in aesthetics in 1890. Salin was admitted as assistant at the State Historical Museum in 1889, where he was promoted to second assistant curator in 1902. Salin became curator of the Nordic Museum in 1903 and was director of the Nordic Museum from 1905 to 1913 and from 1905 to 1912. Salin was originally an art historian, but was interested in prehistoric archaeology, and as an archaeologist he participated including at the excavation in Siretorp in Blekinge in 1915. Edgar Bernhard Jacques Salin (10 February 1892 – 17 May 1974) was a German economist, historian, and translator. Born on 10 February 1892 in Frankfurt, he studied political economy and jurisprudence, completing his PhD at Heidelberg University in 1913 with a thesis on the economic development of Alaska under the supervision of Alfred Weber. After habilitating at Heidelberg in 1920 with a monograph on the political thought of Plato, Salin taught there and at Kiel before taking up a position as Professor of National Economy at the University of Basel in 1927, which he held until 1962. He served as Chancellor of Basel University. He founded the journal '' Kyklos'' at Basel in 1947. Holger Salin (18 September 1911 – ) was a Finnish footballer who played at both professional and international levels as a striker. Career Salin was born in Finland and played football with HIFK. Pascal Salin (born May 16, 1939) is a French economist, professor '' emeritus'' at the Université Paris-Dauphine and a specialist in public finance and monetary economics. He is a former president of the Mont Pelerin Society (1994 to 1996). Biography After undergraduate studies in law at the University of Bordeaux, Salin studied economics in Paris and graduated from the Instituts d'études politiques. Phillip Kenneth Salin (1950–1991) was an American economist and futurist, best known for his contributions to theories about the development of cyberspace and as a proponent of private (non-governmental) space exploration and development. Education and early life Salin was born in Hollywood, California and raised in San Rafael, California. Salin's father was Lothar Salin, a psychotherapist and public interest activist in San Rafael. His grandfather was Edgar Salin, an historian/economist/philosopher at Basel, Switzerland and a leader of the so-called "Historical School" of political and social philosophy. Romain Jules Salin (born 29 July 1984) is a French former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He spent most of his professional career in Portugal's Primeira Liga, making 140 appearances for Naval, Marítimo, Rio Ave and Sporting CP, winning a Taça de Portugal and two Taça da Liga titles with the last of those clubs.
