Saligrama, Mysore
Saligrama is a new sub-district of Mysore district, situated on the northern bank of the river Cauvery averi This place is esteemed as sacred by the Shri Vaishnavas on account of its having been the residence of Sri Ramanujacharya. It is the headquarters of Saligrama Taluk. It was established as a new taluk carving out of K.R.Nagar taluk with effect from 31.12.2020 and become ninth taluk of Mysore district of Karnataka, India. A number of religious sites, famous old temples - including Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple, Sri Ramanuja Sripada Teertham, Sri Jyothirmaheswara Swamy Temple, Jain Basadis, and an Ashram are located in the town. History Swamy Ramanuja arrived in Karnataka where the local tribals received him in this place. The local people who were averse to Swamy Ramanuja conspired a plan to do away with him. Dr.Parvathamma Rajkumar (6 December 1939 – 31 May 2017) was an Indian film producer and distributor. She was the wife of veteran Kannada actor Dr. Rajkumar. She produced successful films featuring Rajkumar and their sons Shiva Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar under the production house named "Poornima Enterprises". Actresses who found fame in her productions include Malashri, Prema, Rakshita, Sudha Rani and Ramya. She was awarded a doctorate from Bangalore University. Ramanujacharya
Ramanuja (Middle Tamil: Rāmāṉujam; Classical Sanskrit: Rāmanuja; 1017 CE – 1137 CE; ; ), also known as Ramanujacharya, was an Indian Hindu philosopher, guru and a social reformer. He is noted to be one of the most important exponents of the Sri Vaishnavism tradition within Hinduism. His philosophical foundations for devotionalism were influential to the Bhakti movement. Ramanuja's guru was Yādava Prakāśa, a scholar who according to tradition belonged to the Advaita Vedānta tradition, but probably was a Bhedabheda scholar. Sri Vaishnava tradition holds that Ramanuja disagreed with his guru and the non-dualistic Advaita Vedānta, and instead followed in the footsteps of Tamil Alvārs tradition, the scholars Nāthamuni and Yamunāchārya.
