Salesian High School (Richmond)
Salesian College Preparatory (formerly Salesian High School and Salesian House of Studies) is a private, Roman Catholic, co-educational, college-preparatory high school in Richmond, California, United States. Established in 1927, it is part of the Salesians of Don Bosco and is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland. It is a Salesian school and is situated on in the North & East neighborhood. It has rivalries with St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School and Saint Mary's College High School. History The Salesian House of Studies opened on the campus as a seminary for future Salesians. In 1960, the school became Salesian High School and began allowing boys of west Contra Costa County to attend. Jabari Carl Bird (born July 3, 1994) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the California Golden Bears. He was selected in the second round of the 2017 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics. High school career Bird played his high school basketball at Salesian High School where he led the Pride to an overall 100–8 record in his three years on the team. Bird was a McDonald's All-American in high school and was the No. 20 overall recruit in the 2013 class. Jahvid Andre Best (born January 30, 1989) is an Olympic track and field athlete, a former American football running back. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football at California, setting several school records, including most all-purpose yards in a single season and most rushing yards in a single game. Best also led the Pac-10 in total rushing yards in 2008. Best competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics, representing Saint Lucia in track and field.
