	Beth Salem Presbyterian Church Beth Salem Presbyterian Church is a historic African-American church in Athens, Tennessee. The congregation was organized in 1866 with support from white missionaries, making Beth Salem the first African American church in the three-county farming region of McMinn, Meigs, and Polk counties. At first, the congregation held its services under a brush arbor. After a local white woman donated land for a building, a log church was built. It also housed a public school. After the log building was destroyed by fire around 1920, the current building was built using donated lumber and the volunteer labor of both black church members and their white neighbors. The 1920 church building is a one-story, one-room, rectangular frame structure with a gable front entrance, weatherboard siding, and a metal roof. 	Salem Presbyterian Church (Washington College, Tennessee) Salem Presbyterian Church is a Presbyterian church at 147 Washington College Road at the Washington College Academy in Tennessee. It was started in 1894 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. History Salem Presbyterian Church is a historic church in Washington College, Limestone, Tennessee, affiliated with the Holston Presbytery and Presbyterian Church (USA). The congregation was formed in 1780 under the leadership of Reverend Samuel Doak. It was the first Presbyterian church established in the area that was later to become the state of Tennessee. 	Salem Presbyterian Parsonage Salem Presbyterian Parsonage, also known as the Old Manse, is a historic parsonage associated with Salem Presbyterian Church and located at Salem, Virginia. The core section was built in 1847, and is a two-story, central passage plan, brick I-house. A front section was added to the core in 1879, giving the house an "L"-shaped configuration; an addition in 1922 filled in the "L". A dining room addition built between 1896 and 1909 connected the main house to a formerly detached kitchen dating to the 1850s. The house features Greek Revival style exterior and interior detailing. The front facade features a one-story porch with a hipped roof supported by fluted Doric order columns.
