Berguedà
Berguedà () is an inland comarca (county) in Catalonia, Spain, lying partly in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, and partly in the Catalan Central Depression. Geography The northern half of Berguedà, known as Alt Berguedà (“Upper Berguedà”), consists of the upper Llobregat Valley and the mountainous areas surrounding it. Its northern border is a veritable mountain barrier: Berguedà is separated from Cerdanya by a chain of 2,000-meter peaks. These include the mountain ranges of Cadí, Moixeró, Puig d' Alp and Puigllançada. In this area the population is centered mainly in the Llobregat Valley and the valleys of the rivers Bagà, Bastareny and Saldes. To the east are the mountain ranges of Catllaràs and Rasos de Tubau, to the west the high ranges of Pedraforca, Verd, Ensija and Rasos de Peguera. Gisclareny
Gisclareny is a municipality in the comarca of Berguedà, Catalonia, located in Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. 2018 it again became the smallest village in Catalonia after the village of Sant Jaume de Frontanyà grew by 3 families. The altitude of the inhabited space varies between 800 meters in the neighborhood of Bagà and 1430 in the neighborhood of Coll de la Bena. It is bounded on the north by the Cerdanya, reaching the peaks of the Serra del Cadí, and by Bagà, on the south and west by Saldes and Vallcebre, and on the east by Bagà and Guardiola de Berguedà. Pedraforca
Pedraforca is a mountain in the Pre-Pyrenees, located in the comarca of Berguedà. The mountain's rare form, along with the fact that it is not visibly connected to any other adjacent mountains or ridges, has made it one of the most famous and emblematic mountains in Catalonia, the northeasternmost region Spain. Description The mountain has a peculiar, forked shape composed of two parallel peaks (the ''pollegons'') joined by a neck (the ''enforcadura''). The loftier peak, called ''Pollegó superior'', has an elevation of 2,506.4 m, with a secondary peak, ''el Calderer'', at 2,496.4 m in height. The lower peak, the ''Pollegó inferior'' is 2,444.8 m tall, while the ''Enforcaduras highest point lies at 2,356.2 m, with a scree field (''tartera'' in Catalan) on both faces of the mountain. Gósol
Gósol is a village and municipality located in the northwest of the comarca of Berguedà in Catalonia, in the Pyrenees. It is within the confines of Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park, to the west of Pedraforca. Gósol is the only municipality in Berguedà which is in the province of Lleida rather than that of Barcelona. It is also a party to the Judicial district of La Seu d'Urgell. Geography The present town is centered in the eponymous valley of Gósol, which is enclosed by the Serra del Cadí and Pedraforca, in the Pyrenees. The ruins of the former town and castle, dating from the 11th century, overlook the Gósol from an adjacent hill. Fígols is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Berguedà in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated to the north of Cercs, in the mountains above the Llobregat valley. Vallcebre
Vallcebre is a municipality in the comarca of Berguedà, Catalonia. It comprises two towns: ''Vallcebre'' proper, and the village of ''Sant Julià de Fréixens''. History The town was first documented in the year 893, when it was mentioned as ''Balcebre'' in a document describing the consecration of the Cathedral of la Seu d'Urgell. By 983, a castle existed in the town, of which there is no trace today. The municipality in former times was controlled in part by the Abbot of Bagà and the barons of Peguera. By the 15th century, it had become part of the possessions of the Foix family. Culture The parochial church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the patroness of the town, and is of relatively recent origin, having only been constructed in 1931. Bagà
Bagà is a Spanish municipality located in the comarca of Berguedà, in Catalonia. Traditionally, Bagà is considered the capital of ''Alt Berguedà'', the mountainous northern half of the comarca. Location Bagà is located at the head of the valley of the Llobregat river, at the feet of the high mountains of the Cadí range. The town itself is at 785 metres above sea level. Sant Sebastià Del Sull
Sant Sebastià del Sull is a ruined Benedictine monastery in Saldes, Berguedà comarca, Catalonia, Spain. Originally constructed in the 9th century in Romanesque style, the building was renovated several times. After it collapsed, it was rebuilt in the 15th century. Now in ruins, Dr. Manuel Riu Riu, made several excavations between 1971–77, which served to expose unique building architecture and important Catalan Romanesque necropolis. History The monastery was founded by Father Daniel and devotee Honesta in the early 10th century. They received the land for the formation of the monastery before the year 939. In that year, Sunifred II of Cerdanya gave the land which then helped form a religious community with an abbot and six monks. Josa I Tuixén
Josa i Tuixén or Josa i Tuixent is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Alt Urgell in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the southern side of the Pyrenean range of Serra del Cadí in the east of the ''comarca''. The ''ajuntament'' (town hall) is located in Tuixén.
