Halang, also known as Salang, is a Bahnaric language of the Mon–Khmer branch of the Austroasiatic language family. It is spoken in the southern Laotian province of Attapu by approximately 4,000 people and in the neighboring Kon Tum Province of Vietnam by approximately 13,000 people. North Salang
North Salang or Sālangi Shamāli ( fa, سالنگ شمالی, ps, شمالي سالنګ) is a village at an altitude of 3,365 meters in the Khinjan District of Baghlan Province in north-eastern Afghanistan, to the northern side of the Salang Tunnel. Climate North Salang has a subarctic climate (Köppen climate classification, Köppen: ''Dsc''), bordering very closely on a tundra climate (''ET'') with cool to mild summers and very cold winters. Precipitation is significantly higher than in much of the rest of Afghanistan due to North Salang's location on the windward side of the Hindu Kush mountain range, and mostly falls in the form of snow. Salang River
The Salang is a 438 kilometre long river of Afghanistan, flowing through Parwan Province. It is a tributary of the Indus River and the Ghorband River and the Panjshir River and the Kabul River. Geography The Salang River originates on the south side of the central mountains of the Hindu Kush in the north-east of Salang Pass, which links the region to Kabul with the northern part of the country. Its valley and the Salang Pass form an important international waterway. It is north–south oriented. The Salang flows into the Ghorband River at the locality of Jabal Saraj in Parwan. In Jabal Saraj, the average annual flow module between 1961 and 1964 was about 763 millimeters per year, which is considered a high rate.UNESCO - Salang Station : Jabelusaraï
