Salamini–Luxor TV was an Italian professional cycling team that existed from 1966 to 1967. The team competed in the 1967 Giro d'Italia, with their rider Vittorio Adorni winning stage 20. Adorni also notably won the overall classification of the 1967 Tour de Romandie with the team. Pietro Guerra
Pietro Guerra (born 28 June 1943) is a retired Italian road cyclist. Competing as amateur in the 100 km team time trial, he won an Olympics silver medal in 1964 and two world titles, in 1964 and 1965, finishing third in 1966. Then he turned professional and rode the Tour de France in 1968–1972, winning one stage in 1971. The Coppa Placci is a semi classic European bicycle race held between Imola, Italy and San Marino. Since 2005, the race has been organised as a 1.HC event on the UCI Europe Tour. The race is named after Antonio Placci, a cyclist born in Imola who died in 1921, two years before the race was created. Because of sponsorship problems, in 2010 the race has been excluded from the UCI Europe Tour and was reserved to the Elite/Under 23 Category. In 2011 the race was held as Giro della Romagna - Coppa Placci and won by Oscar Gatto. Luciano Armani
Luciano Armani (12 October 1940 – 4 February 2023) was an Italian professional road bicycle racer. In the 1971 Tour de France, Luis Ocaña was leading the race after his great victory in the 11th stage, Eddy Merckx was more than 10 minutes behind. After the rest day, Merckx attacked in the 12th stage from the start, following his teammate Rini Wagtmans. Armani and some other cyclists joined them, and the group stayed away. In the peloton, the teams of Luis Ocaña and Cyrille Guimard (the holder of the green jersey) were trying to get the group back. The entire stage (245 km) the difference stayed between 40 seconds and two minutes. At the end of the stage, Armani surprised Merckx, and the difference was 1 minute and 50 seconds. Because of the high speed of the stage (45,351 km/h), the finish was reached 90 minutes faster than the fastest time schedule of the organizers, which caused a chaos. Bruno Mealli
Bruno Mealli (20 November 1937 – 3 August 2023) was an Italian professional road cyclist. He competed in eight editions of the Giro d'Italia. Career When an amateur, Mealli won several races, notably the Giro del Casentino. A professional rider from 1961 to 1969, during his career he competed in eight editions of the Giro d'Italia, winning three stages and wearing the pink jersey five times. He won the Italian National title in 1963, and he was selected in the Italian team for the 1964 and 1965 UCI Road World Championships. After his retirement, he worked as a clerk and later as a manager for Poste Italiane. He died on 3 August 2023, at the age of 85.
