Sakura (NHK)
is a Japanese serialized morning television drama series that was broadcast on NHK. It aired a total of 156 episodes from April 1 to September 28, 2002. Each episode of the series was 15 minutes long, airing every morning except Sunday. It chronicles the life of Matsushita Sakura, a Japanese-American from Hawaii who moves to a small town in Japan to be an assistant language teacher for Japanese middle-school students. Premise Sakura Matsushita, a Sansei (third-generation) Japanese-American living in Hawaii, who comes to Japan to live with her grandparents. Later, she moves because she has to teach English to Japanese middle-school students as an assistant language teacher. There she learns many valuable lessons and makes new friends. Japanese Television Drama

Hideji Ōtaki
was a Japanese actor. He has served as President of the Mingei Theatre Company. Career After serving in World War II, he became interested in the theater and helped found the Gekidan Mingei troupe in 1950. He gained fame for his television work from the 1970s, but he also appeared in many films, especially those of Juzo Itami. His last film, ''Anata e'', starring Ken Takakura, was released a few months before his death. He died of lung cancer at his home in Tokyo on 2 October 2012. Sansei
is a Japanese and North American English term used in parts of the world such as South America and North America to specify the children of children born to ethnic Japanese in a new country of residence. An Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) is a foreign national serving as an assistant teacher (paraprofessional educator) in a Japanese classroom, particularly for English. The term was created by the Japanese Ministry of Education at the time of the creation of the JET Programme as a translation of the term 外国語指導助手 (''gaikokugo shidō joshu'') or literally "foreign language instruction assistant". The terms AET (Assistant English Teacher), ELT (English Language Teacher) and NESA (Native English Speaking Assistant) are also in use.
