Sakkuth
Sakkuth is an Australian melodic metal band formed in Brisbane, Queensland in 1998. They describe themselves as "melodic metal". The band was active in the Brisbane heavy metal scene and around Australia for nearly 10 years. Members The beginning Sakkuth was created by Adam Merker (guitars '94-'05) and Moises Contreras (vocals '94-present). Craig Hollywood was hired as second guitar, Wolfgang on Keyboard, Scott Ward on Drums and various Bass players tried to fill the slot while the band found its feet. After performing with this line-up the decision was made to look into other line up options. A number of line-up changes later, Scott McIvor was hired for lead guitar, Damien Biggers was poached from a local band after impressing Adam with his drumming on his previous band's demo. Lindal Loakes joined the band almost by accident and the lineup became complete. Melodic Death Metal
Melodic death metal (also referred to as melodeath) is a subgenre of death metal that employs highly melodic guitar riffs, often borrowing from traditional heavy metal (including New Wave of British Heavy Metal). The genre features the heaviness of death metal but with highly melodic or harmonized guitar riffs and solos, and often features high-pitched shrieked vocals (differing from traditional death metal) alongside the low-pitched growls commonly featured in traditional death metal. Pioneered by the English heavy metal band Carcass with their 1993 album ''Heartwork'', melodic death metal developed further in Sweden (developed by bands like At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, and In Flames) in the mid-1990s. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. Triple J (stylised in all lowercase) is a government-funded, national Australian Radio in Australia, radio station intended to appeal to listeners of alternative music, which began broadcasting in January 1975. Full Metal Racket
''The Racket'' (formerly ''3 Hours of Power'' and ''Full Metal Racket'') is an Australian heavy metal radio show airing on alternative youth broadcaster Triple J. The show currently airs between 9pm and 11pm on Tuesday nights and is hosted by Lochlan Watt. The name was an allusion to the popular Kubrick war film ''Full Metal Jacket''. A notable, now former segment of the program is the 'Corpse Classic' - three songs played throughout the show off a pre-1987 heavy metal vinyl. Bands featured on this segment have been: Bathory, Suicidal Tendencies, Mötley Crüe, Spinal Tap, Iron Maiden among others. The 'Corpse Classic' was replaced with the similarly themed 'Heavy Metal Troopers' in 2008 because of 'running out of vinyl'. Logan City is a local government area situated within the south of the Brisbane metropolitan area in South East Queensland, Australia. The Sunshine Coast is a peri-urban region in South East Queensland, Australia.
