Sakhee
Sakhee (14 February 1997 – 20 August 2021) was an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. He won eight of his fourteen races and was most noted for his performances as a four-year-old in 2001 when his wins included the International Stakes and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Background Bred by the racing interests of Dubai's Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum, his sire Bahri was almost exclusively a miler who won two Group One races at that distance. Sakhee was from the mare Thawakib, a winner of the 1993 Group II Ribblesdale Stakes whose sire was the fourteen-time Leading sire in Great Britain & Ireland, Sadler's Wells. Trained by John L. International Stakes
The International Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged three years or older. It is run at York over a distance of 1 mile, 2 furlongs and 56 yards (2,063 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in August. History The event was devised by Major Leslie Petch, a former Clerk of the Course at York. It was first run in 1972, but by this time Petch had resigned from his position due to ill health. The race was originally sponsored by Benson and Hedges and called the Benson and Hedges Gold Cup. The inaugural running was won by Roberto, that year's Derby winner. The second-placed horse was Brigadier Gerard – his only defeat in a career of eighteen races. Sinndar (27 February 1997 – 26 November 2018) was an Ireland, Irish Thoroughbred horse racing, racehorse and sire (horse), sire. In a racing career that lasted from September 1999 until October 2000, he ran eight times and won seven races. He was notable for his unique achievement in winning Epsom Derby, The Derby, Irish Derby Stakes and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in the same year. Sandown Classic Trial
The Sandown Classic Trial is a Group 3 flat horse race in Great Britain open to three-year-old horses. It is run over a distance of 1 mile, 1 furlong and 209 yards () at Sandown Park in late April. History The event was established in 1953, and it was originally called the Royal Stakes. The first running was won by Mountain King. Ladbrokes became the sponsor of the race in 1971, and from this point it was known as the Ladbroke Classic Trial. It took place at Kempton Park in 1973. Saeed bin Suroor (born 16 November 1968 in Dubai) is a horse racing trainer in Great Britain. Bahri (7 February 1992 – 7 September 2017) was a Thoroughbred race horse and sire, bred in the United States but trained in the United Kingdom. He is best known for the unconventional ride he was given by Willie Carson when winning the 1995 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot Racecourse. Background Bahri, a dark bay or brown horse, was bred at Shadwell Farm near Lexington, Kentucky. He was sired by Riverman who won three Group 1 races in France as a 3-year-old, at distances between 1,600 meters (about a mile) and 1,850 metres (about 1 mile and 1¼ furlongs). Riverman (1969–1999) was a French Thoroughbred horse racing, racehorse. Background Foaled in Kentucky, Riverman was bred by Harry F. Guggenheim of the prominent American Guggenheim family. Riverman was from the mare (horse), mare River Lady and sired by Guggenheim's stallion Never Bend, a grandson of the extremely important sire, Nearco.
