The Mekong Club Championship was an ASEAN club competition for men's association football clubs. Five teams entered as respective domestic league winners from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. The championship was sponsored by Toyota. Regional League Championships are contested by the five regional league winners of the 3rd level championships of Thailand. Five teams meet on a home and away basis, with the top three teams getting promotion to the Thai Division 1 League, Thai 1st Division. History The 1st ever edition was played in 2009 by the following regional league winners; Chiangrai United, Raj Pracha-Nonthaburi FC, Raj Pracha-Nonthaburi, Narathiwat FC, Narathiwat, Loei City and Samut Prakan FC, Samut Prakan. Regional League Northern Division
Regional League Northern Region is the 3rd Level League in Thailand. It was formed in 2009 along with other four other regional leagues, all playing at the same level. The winner of each regional league enter the Regional League Championships to determine the three teams that will receive promotion to the Thai Division 1 League. League History Formed in 2009, 11 clubs applied to be part of the new setup; Chainat FC, Chainat, Chiangmai United FC, Chiangmai United, Chiangrai United FC, Chiangrai United, Kamphaeng Phet FC, Kamphaeng Phet, Phetchabun FC, Phetchabun, Phichit FC, Phichit, Phitsanulok FC, Phitsanulok, Phrae FC, Phrae, Sukhothai FC, Sukhothai, Tak FC, Tak and Uttaradit FC, Uttaradit.
