The (, 'Girl Scouts of Georgia 'Dia') is the national Girl Scouting organisation of Georgia. It serves 805 members (as of 2006). The girls-only became an associate member of the WAGGGS in 1999. ''Dia'' itself is an ancient Georgian feminine name, referring to the goddess associated in Georgian mythology with the planet Jupiter. In 1993 due to a majority of boys in the membership, and at the request of the girls' representatives, the parent association was renamed Guides and Scouts Association of the Republic of Georgia. April 19 is the official holiday as the anniversary of the first national Girl Scout conference in 1997. Georgian Girl Scouts have a relationship with the Northwest Georgia Girl Scout Council. The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS ) is a global association supporting the Girl Guides, female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organizations in 152 countries. It was established in 1928 in Parád, Hungary, and has its headquarters in London, United Kingdom. It is the counterpart of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). Patriot Camps
The Patriot camps ( ka, პატრიოტული ბანაკი) are state-sponsored summer camps for the teenagers of Georgia (country), Georgia. The Patriot camps were initiated by the president of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili in 2005. Each year tens of thousands of young Georgians attend summer camps for ten days, with expenses paid by the Georgian government. Participation is voluntary. In 2007 seven patriot camps will operate. The declared aim of the project is to raise national pride in young Georgians and to counter social problems of the country. The participants are from poor backgrounds aged 15 to 20. Activities in the camps focus on sporting and cultural events. (in Georgian: ; 'Georgian Organization of the Scout Movement'), the national Scouting organization of Georgia, was founded in 1994, and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1997. The coeducational has 1,343 members as of 2011. History Scouting first came to what is now the Republic of Georgia around the 1920s, by way of the British business community in the western part of the country. Georgian Alphabet
The Georgian scripts are the three writing systems used to write the Georgian language: Asomtavruli, Nuskhuri and Mkhedruli. Although the systems differ in appearance, their letters share the same names and alphabetical order and are written horizontally from left to right. The Scout Motto of the Scout movement is, in English, "Be Prepared", with most international branches of the group using a close translation of that phrase. These mottoes have been used by millions of Scouts around the world since 1907. Girl Guides And Girl Scouts
A Girl Guide or Girl Scout is a member of a section of some Guiding organisations who is between the ages of 10 and 14. Age limits are different in each organisation. The term Girl Scout is used in the United States and several East Asian countries. The two terms are used synonymously within this article. Girl Guides are organised into units/troops averaging 15–30 girls under guidance of a team of leaders.
