Sajha Party
The Sajha Party ( ne, साझा पार्टी) is a political party founded by former editor-in-chief of BBC Nepali Service Rabindra Mishra. History Sajha Party was founded in 2017 by the former editor-in-chief of BBC Nepali Service, Rabindra Mishra. It was formed as an "alternative" party and guided by the welfare economy and inspired by global norms of democracy. The party contested the 2017 local election as independents with Ramesh Maharjan and Kishore Thapa finishing third and fourth in Kathmandu and Lalitpur elections respectively. Deputy mayor candidate Sobha Shakya finished in second place in Lalitpur, and Nirupama Yadav finished third in Kathmandu. The party was not as successful outside the Kathmandu Valley with their candidates in Itahari getting less than 500 votes. Rabindra Mishra
Rabindra Mishra ( ne, रवीन्द्र मिश्र) is a Nepali philanthropist, ex-journalist, writer, poet, and politician. Currently, Mishra is the Senior Vice-Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, after having resigned as a general member of Bibeksheel Sajha Party in September 2022. He earlier resigned as the national president of Bibeksheel Sajha Party in May 2022. He formerly worked as the editor-in-chief of BBC Nepali Service, and left the BBC in February 2017 to enter Nepalese politics. Mishra is also the founder of the global charity, Help Nepal Network, which has chapters in 14 countries and is run entirely by volunteers. 2017 Nepalese Local Elections
The 2017 Nepalese local elections were held in Nepal in three phases on 14 May, 28 June and 18 September in 6 metropolitan cities, 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 276 municipalities and 460 rural municipalities. It was the first local level election to be held since the promulgation of the 2015 constitution. Background Local elections were held in 53 municipalities in February 2006 under regime of King Gyanendra but were boycotted by the major political parties and saw low voter turnout. Prior to 2006, the previous elections was held in 1997 with a mandate of five years. Elections were supposed to be held on 2002 but were delayed due to the then ongoing Nepal Civil War. 2017 Nepalese Provincial Elections
Provincial assembly elections were held in Nepal on 26 November and 7 December 2017 along with the general election. 330 seats in the seven newly created provincial assemblies were elected by first-past-the-post voting and 220 by proportional representation. The election was part of Nepal's transformation to a federal republic. Next Election will be held in 2022 unless dissolved earlier without completing the five years term. 2022 Nepalese provincial election will be the second election for provinces after completion of tenure of five years. Ujwal Thapa
Ujwal Thapa ( ne, उज्वल थापा; 7 January 1977 – 1 June 2021) was a Nepali youth leader and activist, entrepreneur, and social worker. He was the president of the Bibeksheel Nepali party. Bibeksheel Nepali Dal (विवेकशील नेपाली दल) is a political party in Nepal. The name ''"Bibeksheel"'' translates to "common sense wisdom". Municipal election for Lalitpur, the third largest city in Nepal, was held on May 14, 2017 for the post of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Ward Chairmen and Ward Members.
