''Saiyuki Gaiden'', known in Japan as , is an original video animation (OVA) series, based on the same name manga series written and illustrated by Kazuya Minekura, and it is a prequel to the manga series ''Saiyuki'' which ended in Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero-Sum magazine in 2009. directed by Naoyuki Kuzuya and written by Hajime Sasaki and released in Japan from March 25, 2011 to April 26, 2013. ''Saiyuki Gaiden'' chronicles the story of 500 years before Saiyuki, a heretic child with golden eyes is brought to Heaven and given into the reluctant care of a minor deity, Konzen, nephew of the Merciful Goddess Kanzeon Bosatsu. Konzen eventually names him "Goku". Goku befriends two other minor gods, Marshal Tenpou and General Kenren of the Western Army of Heaven, and a boy who seems to be his age, the War Prince Nataku. Sentai Filmworks, LLC or just Sentai, is an American entertainment company owned by AMC Networks. Located in Houston, the company specializes in the dubbing and distribution of Japanese animation and Asian cinema. Its post-production arm is Sentai Studios. The company has its origins in A.D. Vision, which was founded in 1992 by video game fan John Ledford and Matt Greenfield. ADV collapsed due to low sales and eventually liquidated their assets in 2009. Ledford founded Sentai in 2008 and acquired the majority of ADV's titles. Sentai was then acquired by New York City-based AMC Networks in 2022 and became its subsidiary. The Blu-ray Disc (BD), often known simply as Blu-ray, is a digital optical disc data storage format. It was invented and developed in 2005 and released on June 20, 2006 worldwide. It is designed to supersede the DVD format, and capable of storing several hours of high-definition video (HDTV 720p and 1080p). Andy McAvin
Andrew Mark McAvin (born January 4, 1952) is an American voice actor with nearly 80 credits to his resume. He also appeared in over 120 professional theatrical productions including Broadway musicals. He does voice work in anime dubs for ADV Films and Seraphim Digital. One of his most prominent roles was the genocidal villain Brian J. Mason in ''Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040'', the voice type of which is referred to by cast and crew-mates as the "slime that walks like a man" voice.
