St. Francis High School is a Catholic college preparatory high school for boys, located in La Cañada Flintridge, California, USA. Founded in 1946 on the lands bought from the Flintridge Country Club, it is owned and directed by the Capuchin Friars of the Western American Province of Our Lady of Angels. La Cañada Flintridge, commonly known as "La Cañada" (Spanish for "The Canyon"), is a city in the foothills of the Verdugo Mountains in Los Angeles County, California. Located in the Crescenta Valley, in the western edge of Southern California's San Gabriel Valley, it is the location of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Matthew Gregory Elshoff, O.F.M. Cap. (born September 24, 1955) is an American Catholic priest and Capuchin friar who has been serving as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in California since 2023. Biography Early life Matthew Elshoff was born on September 24, 1955, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the first of five children of Calvin and Irene (née Molnar) Elshoff. His family moved to Los Angeles when he was a child, and he attended St. Bede the Venerable Church and Elementary School in La Cañada, Flintridge. The school was operated by the Sisters of St. Louis, who encouraged Elshoff to consider becoming a priest. Daniel Paladini (born November 11, 1984 in Northridge, California) is an American soccer player. Career Youth and college Paladini was twice named an all-state selection as a high schooler at St. Francis High School in 2000 and 2001, and played club soccer for Real SoCal for many years. At Cal State Northridge he was a first team All-Big West selection in 2004 and 2005, and scored seven goals and added four assists in 2005 en route to Big West Conference midfielder of the year honors. Lloyd Monserratt (December 2, 1966 – January 9, 2003), was an American political activist and Director of Constituent Services for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, where he trained a number of future Latino politicians.
