Giles Lyndon Scott (born 23 June 1987) is a British competitive sailor and four-time Finn Gold Cup winner and two-time Olympic gold medallist who won the gold medal for Team GB in the Finn Class at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro where having dominated the class, Scott secured his place in the history books winning the gold medal with a day to spare. He is also a member of the 2021 INEOS TEAM UK America's Cup team campaign with Ben Ainslie Racing where he is tactician. Vasilij Žbogar (born 4 October 1975), is a Slovenian sailor. He was born in Koper. Žbogar competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics, where he won a bronze medal and in the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he won a silver medal, both of them in laser class. Caleb Paine
Caleb Paine (born November 15, 1990) is an American sailor. He represented his country at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Paine started sailing at age 6 in the dingy favored by Southern California yacht clubs called a Sabot at Mission Bay Yacht Club. He later transferred to Southwestern Yacht Club and started sailing in the Laser class of sailboat in national competition. He attended Point Loma High School in San Diego and sailed on their sailing team. Forgoing college, Paine began his Olympic campaign in earnest in the Finn class as his size demanded. He began traveling the world to compete, raising money any way he could to stay in competition. He worked closely with silver medalist and fellow American Zach Railey as his training partner leading up to the 2012 Olympics in London where Railey competed. Sailing At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Finn
The Men's Finn was a sailing event on the Sailing at the 2012 Summer Olympics program in Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Eleven races (last one a medal race) were scheduled and completed. 24 sailors, on 24 boats, from 24 nations competed. Ten boats qualified for the medal race on course area Nothe in front of Weymouth, where each position scored double points. Summary Ben Ainslie took his fifth consecutive sailing medal, and his fourth consecutive gold. However, there was a heavy battle with Jonas Høgh Christensen of Denmark that was only decided at the last mark of the medal race. Ainslie and Høgh Christensen finally had an equal number of points but Ainslie had a higher score in one of the races. Sailing At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Finn
The Finn competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the men's one-person heavyweight dinghy event and was held in Enoshima, Japan, from 27 July to 3 August 2021. 19 sailors from 19 nations competed in 11 races, including one medal-race where points were doubled. The land venue was Enoshima Yacht Harbour and races were held on Sagami Bay. Summary Alican Kaynar of Turkey was the overnight leader after the first day after two bullets, followed by Zsombor Berecz of Hungary with two second-place finishes in the first two races. Kaynar continued his lead after the second day, where Giles Scott had won the two races of the day. For the medal race, six sailors were in contention for the medals, with Scott in the front. Finn (dinghy)
The Finn dinghy is a single-handed, cat-rigged sailboat, and a former Olympic class for men's sailing. Since its debut at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, the Finn has featured in every summer Olympics, making it the longest serving dinghy in the Olympic Regatta and one of the most prolific Olympic sailboats, currently filling the slot for the Heavyweight Dinghy. The Finn is a physically demanding boat to race at the highest levels, especially since the class rules now allow unlimited boat rocking and sail pumping when the wind is above 10 knots.
