Sailing At The 1968 Summer Olympics – Flying Dutchman
The Flying Dutchman was a sailing event on the Sailing at the 1968 Summer Olympics program in Acapulco. Seven races were scheduled. 62 sailors, on 30 boats, from 30 nations competed. Rodney Pattisson
Rodney Stuart Pattisson, Order of the British Empire, MBE (born 5 August 1943) is a British yachtsman. He is a double Olympic gold medalist in sailing won at the Sailing_at_the_1968_Summer_Olympics_–_Flying_Dutchman, 1968 Mexico City Olympics and Sailing_at_the_1972_Summer_Olympics_–_Flying_Dutchman, 1972 Munich Olympics both in the Flying Dutchman (dinghy), Flying Dutchman class. Pelle Petterson
Pelle Helmer Petterson (born 31 July 1932) is a Swedish sailor and yacht designer. He is the son of Helmer Petterson and Norwegian-born Borgny Petterson (born Holm), and studied design at the leading Pratt Institute in New York from 1955 through 1957. He is probably best known for designing the Maxi brand of sailing boats, which are still among the most common sailing boats in Swedish waters. He also designed Volvo's successful sports car, the P1800, while he was a student of Pietro Frua. Petterson has three children. There is a line of sailing clothing and sports wear bearing the name Petterson, under the Brand Name ''Pelle P.'' which are designed by his daughter, Cecilia. Ralph Roberts (sailor)
Ralph Hamilton Roberts (26 September 1935 – 19 March 2023) was a New Zealand sailor and sports administrator. Biography Roberts was born on 26 September 1935 in Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand. Roberts went to the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome and competed in the Finn class, where he came sixth out of 35 competitors. He travelled to the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo as a reserve for the Flying Dutchman crew of Helmer Pedersen and Earle Wells, who went on to win Olympic gold. At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, he came eighth in the Flying Dutchman class. Roberts attended the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles as sailing manager, and his team won two gold medals (in the Tornado and Finn classes) and one bronze medal (in the Windglider class). Roberts was Chef de Mission for the 1992 New Zealand Olympic team in Barcelona. Roberts presided over Yachting New Zealand from 1986 to 1989.
