Sailesh Kumar Bandopadhyay
Sailesh Kumar Bandopadhyay (born 10 March 1926) is an Indian social activist and Gandhian, who was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. The Government of India honoured him in 2010, with the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award, for his services to the fields of medicine and public health. Biography Sailesh Kumar Bandyopadhyay was born on 10 March 1926, at Chakradharpur, in the erstwhile Bengal, presently in the Indian state of Jharkhand. His father was an Indian Railways employee with moderate financial resources. The young Sailesh soon came under the influence of Mahatma Gandhi and, after passing matriculation in 1942, he joined Quit India Movement and was arrested twice by the British India police. In 1944, Bandyopadhyay joined the trade union movement at Tatanagar, which was being led by known trade union activists such as Abdul Bari, Michael John and Moni Ghosh. Chakradharpur
Chakradharpur is a city in West Singhbhum district in the state of Jharkhand, India. It is the railway divisional headquarters of Chakradharpur (CKP) division of the South Eastern Railway. The city stands at an elevation of 227 metres (745 feet) and has urban area of 10 square kilometres bounded on the east by Jamshedpur (Tatanagar), on the west by Rourkela (Odisha), on the north by Ranchi (state capital of Jharkhand) and on the south by Chaibasa (district town of West Singhbhum district). Sevagram (meaning "A town for/of service") is a town in the state of Maharashtra, India. It was the place of Mahatma Gandhi's ashram and his residence from 1936 to his death in 1948. After Sabarmati, Sevagram Ashram holds immense importance due to the residence of Mahatma Gandhi. Overview Sevagram, originally Segaon, is a small village, located about 8 km from Wardha. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh.
