Said Rasjad (EYD: Said Rasyad) served as acting mayor of Padang, Bupati Agam, bupati of Agam, and regent of Padang Pariaman. Said Rasjad completed his Meer Uitgebreid Lager Onderwijs, MULO education in Padang and continued to an algemene middelbare school in Batavia, Dutch East Indies, Batavia. After graduating, Rasjad worked as a teacher. On November 27, 1945 at SMK Negeri 2 Padang, School of Simpang Haru ''(Kageo Gakko'', former ''Ambacht School'', now SMK) the Padang Area Incident or Simpang Haru Incident occurred. The incident started with the forced occupation of the school by Royal Netherlands East Indies Army, KNIL soldiers. This led to protests from Said Rasjad, who was a teacher and principal. KNIL soldiers then forcibly beaten Said Rasjad until he was incapacitated. This sparked resistance from the Republicans at the school and in the evening a group of youths attacked the soldiers at the school. Mayor Of Padang
The mayor of Padang is an elected politician who is accountable for the strategic government of Padang, one of the provincial capitals in Indonesia. The position was first held by W.M. Ouwerkerk whe the role was created in 1928 by the Dutch East Indies, Dutch colonial government, while under government of Indonesia it was first held by Abubakar Jaar in 1945, after Indonesian independence. Mayors of Indonesian provinces are now chosen via popular election. Mahyeldi Ansharullah has held the position since 2014 until 2019 after being elected in the 2013 election.
