Said Hassan Shire
Said Hassan Shire ( so, Siciid Xasan Shire, ar, سعيد حسن شاير) is a Somalian politician. He is the former Speaker of the autonomous Puntland region's parliament from January 2014 to October 2015. Biography Shire is in his 40s, and hails from the eastern Sanaag region of Somaliland. He has held various positions in both the Puntland regional administration and the central government. In 2000, Shire served as an MP in the Transitional National Government's interim parliament. He later acted as a Deputy Minister in the Transitional Federal Government in 2007. Since 2010, Shire also served as the Puntland Minister of Livestock and Animal Husbandry. In December 2013, Shire was among 66 new MPs appointed to the Puntland parliament. Transitional National Government
The Transitional National Government (TNG) was the internationally recognized central government of Somalia from 2000 to 2004. Overview The TNG was established in April–May 2000 at the Somalia National Peace Conference held in Arta, Djibouti. It was militarily and politically opposed by the Somalia Reconciliation and Restoration Council, which was formed by faction leaders including Hussein Mohamed Farrah Aidid and Mohamed Dhere. In principle, the Transitional National Charter, which gave rise to the TNG, recognized de facto regional autonomy and the existence of new entities in the north of the former Somalia, home to relatively homogenous clans. 2014 Puntland Presidential Elections
The 2014 Puntland presidential election was held on 8 January 2014 in Garowe, the administrative capital of the autonomous Puntland region in northeastern Somalia. The third such vote to be held in the state since its formation in 1998, it followed the election of a new Parliament Speaker and Deputy Speakers on 4 January 2014 by the 66-seat regional legislature. Candidates included officials from the incumbent Puntland administration, former government ministers and prominent local entrepreneurs.
