Sahg
Sahg is a three-piece Norwegian hard rock/doom metal band formed in Bergen in the summer of 2004, by key figures in the metal scene of their country: Tom Cato Visnes ( King ov Hell), Einar Selvik ( Kvitrafn), Olav Iversen and Thomas Tofthagen. Iversen has been the main songwriter and the only constant member of the band since its inception. Sahg features members of Audrey Horne and Manngard. History Formation (2004–2005) After years of involvement on different ends of the Norwegian rock and metal scene, four hard rock devotees teamed up under the name Sahg, an acronym for Structure Atlas of Human Genom (SAHG). The band originally consisted of King on bass, Olav Iversen on lead vocals and guitar, Thomas Tofthagen on guitar and Einar Selvik, better known as Kvitrafn, on drums. Olav Iversen
Olav Iversen (born September 23, 1977, in Sandøy, Møre og Romsdal) is a Norwegian heavy metal singer-songwriter and musician. He is better known as a founding member and the guitarist, lead vocalist, and primary songwriter of the rock band Sahg, as well as its only constant member. Musical career Iversen's remarkable career began with Trucks, a British/Norwegian pop punk band, whose most popular release was the 2002 novelty single, "It's Just Porn Mum". The single was a Top 5 hit in Norway, and peaked at No. 35 in the UK Singles Chart. He's best known for being the only constant member and co-founder of the hard rock band Sahg in 2004, along with Tom Cato Visnes ( King ov Hell), Einar Selvik ( Kvitrafn) and Thomas Tofthagen. Iversen has also been an active member in several bands in his country, as Audrey Horne and Manngard. The artwork for the album was created single-handedly by the band members, and the video for "Godless Faith" was shot in October the same year, and was directed by Tommy Naess. ''II'' (also called ''Sahg II'') is the second studio album by the Norwegian hard rock band Sahg, released on March 18, 2008, under the Swedish record label Regain Records. The album was recorded as a trio after the departure of original drummer Kvitrafn some months before. Instead, the producer Brynjulv Guddal was the session drummer. Similarly, it features several guest vocalists in "From Conscious Sleep". A music video was made for "Pyromancer", directed by Asle Birkeland. Kvitrafn
Einar Selvik (born 18 November 1979), also known by his stage name Kvitrafn ("white raven"), is a Norwegian musician known for being the drummer in the black metal band Gorgoroth from 2000 to 2004, and for fronting the Nordic folk project Wardruna, founded in 2002 and also including Gorgoroth's ex-vocalist Gaahl. Selvik and Wardruna's soundtrack work for the History Channel television show ''Vikings'' has earned him international prominence, and he also appeared as an actor on the show. Audrey Horne (band)
Audrey Horne are a hard rock band from Bergen, Norway. The band took its name from Sherilyn Fenn's character in the cult TV series ''Twin Peaks''. Although some of the band's members play or have previously played in black metal bands like Enslaved and Gorgoroth, Audrey Horne's music is far removed from the black metal genre, and can be described as heavy and melodic classic rock, similar to bands like Van Halen, Kiss, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Faith No More and Alice In Chains. Metal Camp
Metaldays is a heavy metal music festival held annually in Tolmin, Slovenia, since 2004. The festival has been more popular every year with more media coverage and in order to not let it grow too big, in 2010 the tickets were limited to 12,000. The festival was organized by Austrian promoter Rock the Nation and Slovenian Master of Metal (MOM d.o.o.). 2012 was the last year when the name METALCAMP was used. Since 2013 the festival is called METALDAYS. The venue is the same, but the organizer has changed. Metaldays is organized by Slovenian promoter MIFI d.o.o. 1349 is a Norwegian black metal band from Oslo, Norway, formed in 1997. The band's name is a reference to the year the Black Death reached Norway. History 1349 formed in 1997 and comprises several former members of the band Alvheim. Drummer Frost is also a member of Satyricon. In recognition of 1349's influences, the band performed a cover of Mayhem's "Buried by Time and Dust" on their debut album, ''Liberation''. Hellish Outcast is a death / thrash metal band from Bergen, Norway, founded in 2001. History Hellish Outcast was formed in 2001 in Bergen, Norway, originally as a trio by guitarist Martin Legreid, bassist Mads Mowinckel (Breed) and drummer Mads Lilletvedt (Solstorm, ex Byfrost). They quickly gained a reputation as one of the most extreme in the underground scene in their city. Ov Hell is a Norwegian black metal Supergroup (music), supergroup started by Shagrath and King ov Hell in 2009. The band's debut album, ''The Underworld Regime'', was released in February 2010 by Indie Recordings. Gorgoroth is a Norwegian black metal band based in Bergen. It was formed in 1992 by guitarist Infernus, who is also the only original member remaining, and the band have since released nine studio albums. Gorgoroth are a Satanic band and have drawn controversy due to some of their concerts, which have featured impaled sheep heads and mock crucifixions. The band is named after the dead plateau of darkness in the land of Mordor from J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy novel ''The Lord of the Rings''.
