''Safety Dunce'' is an instrumental metal and hard rock solo album released by former Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Jason Hook in 2007. The album title is an obvious play on words of the song "The Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats. Safety Dunce won a 2007 L.A. Music Award for Best Instrumental Record. Jason Hook
Jason Hook (born Thomas Jason Grinstead) is a Canadian guitarist, best known as the former lead guitarist of the Heavy metal music, heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch. Early life Born in Toronto, Ontario, Hook started his music career at the age of six in nearby Oakville, Ontario, Oakville with private guitar lessons. His early experience in formal music training also included drums, piano and violin. Career Hook spent many years in Canada honing his craft and was eventually signed to Elektra Records, Elektra with his band No Love Lost. The band recorded an album with producer Beau Hill in Los Angeles but the disc never saw the light of day. Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Five Finger Death Punch
Five Finger Death Punch, also abbreviated as 5FDP or FFDP, is an American heavy metal band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2005. The band originally consisted of vocalist and keyboardist Ivan Moody, rhythm guitarist Zoltan Bathory, lead guitarist Caleb Andrew Bingham, bassist Matt Snell, and drummer Jeremy Spencer. Bingham was replaced by guitarist Darrell Roberts in 2006, who was then replaced by Jason Hook in 2009. Bassist Matt Snell departed from the band in 2010, and was replaced by Chris Kael in 2011. Spencer then departed the band in 2018 due to recurring back issues, and was replaced by Charlie Engen, making rhythm guitarist Bathory the only remaining founding member of the band. The Safety Dance
"The Safety Dance" is a song by Canadian new wave/synth-pop band Men Without Hats, released in Canada in 1982 as the second single from ''Rhythm of Youth''. The song was written by lead singer Ivan Doroschuk after he had been kicked out of a club for pogo dancing. The song entered the Canadian top 50 in February 1983, peaking at number 11 on May 14. In the meantime, "The Safety Dance" was released in the US on March 16, but did not enter the US charts for a few months. When it finally did, the record became a bigger hit than it had been in Canada, spending four weeks at its peak position of number 3 in September and October 1983, and staying on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 for 24 weeks. Jeremy Spencer Heyde (born January 8, 1973) is an American musician, best known as the former drummer of Heavy metal music, heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch. He is currently the frontman of Psycho Synner (formerly Psychosexual), a metal/gothic rock band where he performs under the name Grym Synner. On October 31, 2021, Spencer released a one-day record nine Psycho Synner albums.
