Safe Hands Challenge
Safe Hands Challenge is a campaign launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. It was launched on 13 March 2020 by Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director of the WHO. The campaign urges everyone to wash their hands regularly for 40 seconds to keep themselves safe and prevent the transmission of disease. The WHO has called on celebrities from around the world, such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Greta Thunberg, to participate in the Safe Hands Challenge. Response Within 48 hours of its launch, 'The Safe Hands Challenge' was used as a TikTok hashtag nearly half a billion times. Celebrities including the Pussycat Dolls, Billy Porter, Deepika Padukone, Sachin Tendulkar have shared videos of themselves promoting hand hygiene as a part of the Safe Hands Challenge. The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for international public health. The WHO Constitution states its main objective as "the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health". Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus ( ti, ቴዎድሮስ አድሓኖም ገብረኢየሱስ, sometimes spelt ti, ቴድሮስ ኣድሓኖም ገብረየሱስ, label=none; born 3 March 1965) is an Ethiopian public health official, researcher, and Director-General of the World Health Organization since 2017. Tedros is the first African to become WHO Director-General, receiving an endorsement for the role by the African Union. He played a role in the response to the Ebola virus epidemic, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the ongoing 2022 monkeypox outbreak. Greta Tintin Eleonora Ernman Thunberg (; born 3 January 2003) is a Swedish environmental activist who is known for challenging world leaders to take immediate action for climate change mitigation. TikTok, known in China as Douyin (), is a short-form video hosting service owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. It hosts user-submitted videos, which can range in duration from 15 seconds to 10 minutes. TikTok is an international version of Douyin, which was released in the Chinese market in September 2016. It launched in 2017 for iOS and Android in most markets outside of mainland China; however, it became available worldwide only after merging with another Chinese social media service, Musical.ly, on 2 August 2018. The Pussycat Dolls were an American girl group and dance ensemble, founded in Los Angeles, California, by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995 as a burlesque troupe. Internet Challenges
Internet challenges are a genre of videos in which users record themselves performing an action, usually daring others to repeat it. They play a role in Internet meme culture, with many challenges spreading through such memes. Examples include the ALS Ice Bucket challenge, which went viral in mid-2014, and the TrashTag Challenge, which went viral in 2019. Internet challenges are similar to the common children's dare game in which they dare each other to perform an action that one would not normally do.
