The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors is the five member governing board of Sacramento County, California. Like all other counties in California, with the exception of the City and County of San Francisco, Sacramento is split into five districts and each district elects a supervisor every four years. Sacramento County () is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,585,055. Its county seat is Sacramento, which has been the state capital of California since 1854. Sacramento County is the central county of the Greater Sacramento metropolitan area. The county covers about in the northern portion of the Central Valley, on into Gold Country. Sacramento County extends from the low delta lands between the Sacramento River and San Joaquin River, including Suisun Bay, north to about ten miles (16 km) beyond the State Capitol and east into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The southernmost portion of Sacramento County has direct access to San Francisco Bay. Since 2010, statewide droughts in California have further strained Sacramento County's water security. Don Nottoli is a retired American politician who served as a member of the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors from November 1994 to January 2023. A Democrat, he served as chief of staff to his predecessor, Toby Johnson. Nottoli was elected to the Galt City Council in 1978. Early life and education Don attended a local high school in Sacramento County and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Journalism from California State University, Sacramento. Career Nottoli has served five terms since being elected to represent the Fifth District in 1994. He represents the Fifth District which surrounds a 650 square mile area. Roger Dickinson
Roger Eugene Dickinson (born September 22, 1950) is an American attorney and former Democratic member of the California State Assembly, serving the 7th district. Before that he was a Sacramento County supervisor. Dickinson was first elected to the board in a special election in January 1994. Education and early career Dickinson received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley where he lettered in varsity basketball and afterward earned a Juris Doctor degree at UCLA in 1976. He spent seven and a half years with the California Department of Consumer Affairs where he oversaw a statewide project to improve small claims court. In private practice, he helped to form the firm of Kemnitzer, Dickinson, Anderson & Barron emphasizing automobile warranty law and sales misrepresentation cases. Grantland Johnson
Grantland L. Johnson (September 29, 1948 – August 19, 2014) was a Sacramento-area politician and former Secretary of California's Health and Human Services Agency, the first African-American to hold the position. He was born in the Del Paso Heights neighborhood in northern section of Sacramento, California. He was raised by his grandmother, Irene Wallace and mother Mae Willie Johnson and grew up with his two sisters, Rosemary and Cathy. Grantland attended Grant High School where he participated in extra curricular activities such as football, the violin, the debate team and baseball. Susan Peters (born in Foothill Farms, California) is a Republican who serves on the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Peters has served on the Board since January 4, 2005. Background A businesswoman before joining the Board of Supervisors, Supervisor Peters began her career in banking where she served as Assistant Vice President of Wells Fargo Bank and Senior Vice President of Commerce Savings Bank. She later worked at McCuen Properties which was the company of her late husband. She served as treasurer for the company.
