Sackville Blazers
The Sackville Blazers are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. The Blazers play in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League and are the only team in history to have won three consecutive Don Johnson Cups as Maritime Junior B Champions. History The Sackville Blazers became a reality for the 1982/83 season. This came after seven years of hard work to gain entry into Junior hockey for Sackville. Starting with the 1997/98 season, the Blazers have had a continuous run of finishing first overall season after season. The Sackville Blazers' Maritime dynasty began with the 2002–03 season. After winning the NSJBHL Championship, the Blazers went on to the Don Johnson Cup. Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia
Lower Sackville is a community within the urban area of Halifax Regional Municipality, in Nova Scotia, Canada. History Before the European colonization in 1749, the Mi'kmaq lived in this area for thousands of years. In August 1749, Captain John Gorham, acting on orders from Governor Edward Cornwallis to establish a military fort named Fort Sackville. (The community was named after George Germain, 1st Viscount Sackville.). As the community grew, the oak trees that lined the main drive were cut down one-by-one due to poor urban planning. As more homes were desired, the farmlands made way for further urbanization. The Liverpool Privateers are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team from Liverpool, Nova Scotia. The Privateers play in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League. and are the 2006 Don Johnson Cup Maritime Junior B Champions. They were established as the Bay Ducks, based in Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia. History Founded in 2005, as the Bay Ducks, the Privateers have been one of the more dominant teams in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League. In their first season, the Ducks made it all the way to the NSJHL final where they lost to the Antigonish Bulldogs. Due to Newfoundland electing not to send a champion to the 2006 Don Johnson Cup the Ducks were allowed to take the NL seed. Taking full advantage, the Ducks started the tournament with a 5–1 win over the host Kensington Vipers. They then dropped a 1–0 decision to the Island Junior Hockey League Champion Sherwood Falcons. The Mount Pearl Samurai were a Canadian senior ice hockey team from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador. They were part of the Avalon East Senior Hockey League and are eligible for the Herder Memorial Trophy as well as the Allan Cup. History The Mount Pearl Samurai were granted expansion into the Avalon East Senior Hockey League in the fall of 2012. The addition of the Samurai coincided with the hiatus of the Mount Pearl Blades of the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League, who are sitting out 2012-13 if not indefinitely. On October 26, 2012, the Samurai played their first ever game, dropping a 10-2 decision to the Northeast Eagles on the road. CAPSTONE (Cislunar Autonomous Positioning System Technology Operations and Navigation Experiment) is a lunar orbiter that will test and verify the calculated orbital stability planned for the Lunar Gateway space station.
