Sachiko Kato (born 19 February 2000) is a Japanese rugby union player. She plays Prop for Japan and for Exeter Chiefs in the Premier 15s. Biography Kato made her international debut for Japan against Hong Kong when she was 17 years old. In 2021, She was named in Japan's squad for their European tour. She featured in all three test matches against Wales, Scotland and Ireland. She scored a try in their 36–12 loss to Scotland. Kato was named in the Sakura fifteens squad for their Australian tour in 2022. Exeter Chiefs Women are a professional women's rugby union team based in Exeter, Devon, England. They were founded in 2019 to take part in the Premier 15s, the top level of English women's rugby. They are based at Sandy Park and are affiliated to Premiership Rugby's Exeter Chiefs. The side is coached by Head Coach, Susie Appleby. The Premier 15s, currently known for sponsorship purposes as the Allianz Premier 15s, is the top tier of the women's English rugby union domestic league system run by the Rugby Football Union (RFU). The league was created mainly from teams in the Women's Premiership. Its first season began on 16 September 2017. The reigning champions are Saracens Women. History The Premier 15s was founded by the RFU in October 2016 as Women's Super Rugby, where teams involved would have to invest in training facilities and meet increased minimum standards. The Japan women's national rugby union team (, nicknamed Sakura Fifteen) are a national sporting side of Japan, representing them at rugby union. The side first played in 1991. History Japan made their international debut at the 1991 Women's Rugby World Cup. Since then, Japan has appeared at three other editions of the World Cup in 1994, 2002 and 2017. The team has won the Asia Rugby Women's Championship in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The 2021 Rugby World Cup was the ninth staging of the women's Rugby World Cup, as organised by World Rugby. It was held from 8 October to 12 November 2022 in Auckland and Whangārei, New Zealand. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2021, but was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
