Sabrina Varrone (born 24 April 1972) is a former Italian female long-distance runner and cross-country runner who competed at individual senior level at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships (1997, 1999, 2000). The Italian Cross Country Championships ( it, Campionati Italiani di corsa campestre) is an annual cross country running competition that serves as Italy's national championship for the sport. It is usually held in February or March. It was first held in 1908 and featured a men's long course race only. A women's race was added to the programme in 1926. The event includes separate races for both sexes across four categories: open (senior), under-23, under-20, and under-18 ( it, assoluti, promesse, juniores, allievi). World Athletics Cross Country Championships is the most important competition in international cross country running. Formerly held annually and organised by World Athletics (formerly the IAAF), it was inaugurated in 1973, when it replaced the International Cross Country Championships.
