Sabotage (rapper)
Mauro Mateus dos Santos (April 3, 1973 – January 24, 2003), better known by his stage name Sabotage, was a Brazilian rapper and songwriter from São Paulo. Early life He grew up selling drugs in Brooklin Novo, a neighborhood in São Paulo’s South Zone. He gained fame in 2001 after the release of his first and only album titled ''Rap é Compromisso''. He performed on other artists' recordings, such as Sepultura's ''Revolusongs'' EP, a cover of Public Enemy's ''" Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos"'', which was released in 2002. That same year, he appeared as himself in the Brazilian film ''The Trespasser'' (''O Invasor ''O Invasor'' (English: ''The Trespasser'') is a 2002 Brazilian drama film directed by Beto Brant. This is a list of rappers and hip hop musicians murdered since 1987. Two studies in the mid-2010s concluded that murder was the cause of 51.5% of hip hop musician deaths. The average age of death is between 25–30 years of age. Hip hop has a higher rate of homicide than any other genre of music, ranging from five to 32 times higher. ''Carandiru'' is a 2003 Brazilian drama film directed by Héctor Babenco. It is based on the book '' Estação Carandiru'' by Dr. Drauzio Varella, a physician and AIDS specialist, who is portrayed in the film by Luiz Carlos Vasconcelos. ''Carandiru'' tells some of the stories that occurred in Carandiru Penitentiary, which was the biggest prison in Latin America. The story culminates with the 1992 massacre where 111 prisoners were killed, 102 by Police. The film was the last thing for which the prison was used before it was demolished in 2002, one year before the release of the film. "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" is a song on the American hip hop group Public Enemy's 1988 album, ''It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back''. It was released as a single in 1989. The song tells the story of a conscientious objector who makes a prison escape. It is built on a high-pitched piano sample from Isaac Hayes' "Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic", from 1969's ''Hot Buttered Soul''. Song The vocals are mostly by lead rapper Chuck D, with sidekick Flavor Flav appearing between verses, seemingly speaking to Chuck over the phone. ''Revolusongs'' is an EP of cover songs released by Brazilian heavy metal band Sepultura exclusively in Brazil and Japan in 2002. It was released in 2003 through SPV Records as a bonus disc for their ''Roorback'' album. The EP contains seven cover songs. The cover of U2's "Bullet the Blue Sky" was released as a single, but as a part of their next album, ''Roorback''. ''Revolusongs'' was later included as a bonus disc on the digipak and vinyl LP editions of ''Roorback'', minus the final song and video tracks.
