Sabirli (horse)
Sabirli (in Turkish language, Turkish Sabırlı) (April 9, 2001 – 15 September 2010) was a Turkish racehorse and sire (horse), sire. Sabirli was noted for his toughness on the turf winning twenty-six of his fifty-one races over seven seasons from 2003 to 2009. In 2006 he became one of the few Turkish-trained Thoroughbreds to compete successfully abroad when he won a race in Dubai. In the following season he defeated an international field to win Turkey's most valuable race, the Topkapi Trophy at Veliefendi Race Course in Istanbul. Over his career he won the equivalent of more than $2,800,000. Background Sabirli is a bay horse with no white Horse markings, markings bred by Aydoğan San at the Karacabey stud in Bursa. Strike The Gold
Strike the Gold (March 21, 1988 – December 13, 2011) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning the 1991 Kentucky Derby. Upon the death of 1987 Derby winner Alysheba in March 2009, Strike the Gold became the oldest living Kentucky Derby winner, until his own death in 2011. Background He was born on Calumet Farm. Karacabey is a town and district of Bursa Province in the Marmara Region of Turkey. It is located just west of the Simav River near its confluence with the Adirnaz River. Nad Al Sheba Racecourse was Thoroughbred horse racing facility in Dubai, United Arab Emirates opened in 1986. It had a 2,200 m left-handed dirt race track and a left-handed turf course of the same distance. It operated from November through March and featured the Dubai International Racing Carnival and its Dubai World Cup Night. Nad Al Sheba Racecourse was demolished in 2009 following hosting the Dubai World Cup race, being replaced by Meydan Racecourse. Shadow Roll
A shadow roll is a piece of equipment, usually made of sheepskin or a synthetic material, that is attached to the noseband of a horse's bridle. Like blinkers, it partially restricts the horse's vision, and helps them to concentrate on what is in front of them, rather than objects on the ground (such as shadows).
