Sabina Wanjiru Chege
Sabina Wanjiru Chege (born 22 August 1978) is a Kenyan politician and former television actress and radio presenter who also served as the Woman Representative in the National Assembly for Murang'a County (2013–2022). Education and early career Sabina Wanjiru Chege attended the Kenya Institute of Management and the University of Nairobi where she obtained a Bachelor of Education degree and a master's degree in communication. Prior to entering politics she was an actress in the television soap ''Tausi'' where the played the role of Rehema. She subsequently worked as a radio presenter on Coro FM and in radio management at Kameme FM and Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. She is married with three children. Political career She was elected to the National Assembly as women's representative for Muranga county in 2013 with 96.6% of the vote. She was a member of the National Alliance party. The National Assembly of the Republic of Kenya is one of the two Houses of the Parliament of Kenya. Between 1966 and 2013, it served as a unicameral house. 2013 Kenyan General Election
General elections were held in Kenya on 4 March 2013. Voters elected the President, members of the National Assembly and newly formed Senate. They were the first elections held under the new constitution, which was approved in a 2010 referendum, and were also the first run by the new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). They coincided with the 2013 Kenyan local elections. The presidential election saw Uhuru Kenyatta of the National Alliance (TNA) defeat Raila Odinga of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). Murang'a County
Murang'a County is one of the counties of Kenya's former Central Province. Its largest town and capital is Murang'a, formerly referred to as Fort Hall during the colonial era. It is inhabited mainly by and is considered the home of the Gikuyu, the largest ethnic group in Kenya. The county has a population of 1,056,640 based on the 2019 census. History When missionaries first came to Kenya, they found the Coast Region already inhabited by Portuguese, who had taken the coast, strategic for trade, from Arab powers in the 16th century.
