Sabina, Ohio
Sabina is a village in Clinton County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 census, the village had a total population of 2,564. History The town of Sabina was laid out by Warren Sabin, after whom it was named, in 1830, on land originally entered by P. Neville. The original plat of the town was recorded on the 6th of December, 1830, and contained thirty-seven lots. By 1833, Sabina contained two stores and two taverns. In 1859, the town was incorporated, and M. Morris appointed Mayor. A group of archaeological sites known as the Beam Farm Woodland Archaeological District is located along Stone Road near the village. Once inhabited by Adenan and Hopewellian peoples, the district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Geography Sabina is located at (39.489243, -83.635079), along Routes 22 and 3 about ten miles east of Wilmington, the county seat. Ursula Eriksson and Sabina Eriksson (born 3 November 1967) are Swedish twin sisters who came to national attention in the United Kingdom in May 2008. The twins had been in Ireland before travelling to the UK and boarding a bus for London in Liverpool. Their odd behaviour after exiting the bus at a service station on the M6 motorway caused the driver not to allow them back on board. The two were later seen on the central reservation of the M6 motorway. When Highways England traffic officers arrived to assist the women, they ran across the busy motorway, as captured by a small television crew. Ursula managed to dodge traffic, but Sabina was knocked over. Shortly after police arrived, the women again dashed onto the motorway and were struck by oncoming vehicles. Sabina (Latin: ''Sabinum''), also called the Sabine Hills, is a region in central Italy. It is named after Sabina, the territory of the ancient Sabines, which was once bordered by Latium to the south, Picenum to the east, ancient Umbria to the north and Etruria to the west. Sabina Park is a cricket ground and the home of the Kingston Cricket Club, and is the only Test cricket ground in Kingston, Jamaica. Vibia Sabina (13 August 83–136/137) was a Roman Empress, wife and second cousin once removed to the Roman Emperor Hadrian. She was the daughter of Matidia (niece of Roman Emperor Trajan) and suffect consul Lucius Vibius Sabinus. Early life After her father's death in 84, Sabina, along with her half-sister Matidia Minor, went to live with their maternal grandmother, Marciana. They were raised in the household of Trajan and his wife Plotina. Sabina married Hadrian in 100, at the empress Plotina's request. Hadrian succeeded her great uncle in 117. Sabina's mother Matidia (Hadrian's second cousin) was also fond of Hadrian and allowed him to marry her daughter. Saint Sabina
Saint Sabina was a saint and martyr of the early church. Her feast day is 29 August. She lived and suffered martyrdom at the beginning of the 2nd century in Rome. Narrative Sabina was the daughter of Herod Metallarius and the wealthy widow of Senator Valentinus, originally from Avezzano in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Sabina converted to Christianity due to the example of her Syrian slave Serapia. The widow then withdrew with a few devout friends to one of her country seats, where she spent her time doing good works. Serapia was denounced and beheaded in the city of Vindena in the state of Umbria. Sabina rescued her remains and had them interred in the family mausoleum where she also expected to be buried. Sabina was initially discharged out of regard to her quality and friends; but some time later was denounced as well, and accused of being a Christian by Elpidio the Prefect. Fara in Sabina, also spelled Fara Sabina, is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Rieti in the Italian region Lazio, located about northeast of Rome and about southwest of Rieti. History The area was inhabited in prehistoric times, as attested by several archaeological findings from the mid-Palaeolithic and late Bronze Ages. Between the 9th and the 6th centuries BC, a settlement of the Sabines, identified with the city of ''Cures'', existed here, continuing into Roman Empire times. Remains from it include the baths, a small theatre and terraces for agriculture. Poppaea Sabina (AD 30 – 65), also known as Ollia, was a Roman empress as the second wife of the Emperor Nero. She had also been wife to the future emperor Otho.
