Sabarigiri International Airport
Sabarimala Greenfield Airport also known as Cheruvally Estate Airport or Believers' Church Airport is a proposed greenfield airport project to be built in Erumely of Kottayam district in Kerala, India. The proposed site is 53.9 km away from Sabarimala temple and 9.2 km away from Kanjirappally town. The site is spread over of land at Cheruvally Estate in Manimala panchayath, Kanjirappally Taluk. It is also 136 km from state capital Thiruvananthapuram and 113 km from Kochi. Once commissioned, this would be the fifth airport in the State. In February 2017, the Kerala government gave in-principle approval to construct the airport and the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) was asked to conduct a feasibility study. The Sabarimala temple, situated on the Western Ghats in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district, is one of India's holiest shrines which attracts nearly 50 million visitors per season. Cheruvally is a Village in Chirakkadavu panchayat of Kottayam district in Kerala. It is in Kanjirappally taluk, Kottayam district. Name of the place is derived from the myth related to cheruvally temple. Kerala govt and central govt gave approval to construct airport for Sabarimala at Cheruvally Estate near Erumeli. The proposed Sabarigiri International Airport in Central Travancore is to come up on the 2263 acre Cheruvally estate, 2.5 km from the Theni-Kottarakara National Highway and close to Erumeli town in Kottayam district and is about 48 km from Sabarimala. Aranmula International Airport was an airport project planned to be built at Aranmula, Pathanamthitta district of Kerala in India, at a cost of .
